SNL: Dan Aykroyd returns to help skewer clueless Repug congress critters. |

Hope you enjoy. Sifting through the heaps of Jonas Brothers clips to find this one was no joy. :)

|
I've not seen an SNL skit that was actually that smart and funny - and perceptive - in years. I wonder who woke up and wrote it? They captured the GOP cluelessness to a T.

4. As usual it was sort of close but they left a lot sitting in the air |
|
SNL must think they are the cleverist thing ever but unfortunately it simply doesn't make it screen.
Lots of dead air there. The premise was good but they actually went back to the well on the press conference thing after they had got all the water they were going to get out of it.
Hell they could have just gone with facts like the fantasy land CBO report and the mouse/rat embarassment. They also left the Mitch McConnell impression without taking advantage of it. The Rush/Hannity bit was funny and got loud laughs at the beginning. Also Aykroyd could have answered the phone "Boner, I mean BAYnor" or something like that.

12. I caught the end of the Alec Baldwin/Jonas brothers skit |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-15-09 09:20 AM by underpants
the part about the purity ring was funny
but there was a joke sitting there about "working in a brothers act" that I didn't see-unless they did it at the beginning
They seem to get their tiny hits in the first 15 seconds of skits and clearly don't think them out to a conclusion. Circular humor-that sort of thing. The writing process is supposed to include an expansion of the premise even off shoots then you pare it down to a point (with an off shoot still available) create three times more material than you need then EDIT but they seem to just write one line skits that last 3 minutes and never get back to the opening.
it is painful to watch.

19. I stopped watching years ago for this reason too |
|
Well, I don't have the vocabulary like you do, so I never could explain it quite right...
But yes, they're funny in the very beginning of a skit, but then, they do fill out a joke, it's done, then they circle back to it, trying to wring out another laugh or two; they go on and on with stuff that is a waste of time..the skit starts to drag and still they don't stop....
Sure it's tough for any artist to know when to stop, but not knowing when to stop shouldn't be their signature style! For the last however many years....
geez, I haven't watched in so long, I don't even know if they've let the women be funny or if they continue to think we're only useful for some walk-on butt of the bimbo jokes. (huh! what a choice of words! I won't even bother trying to apologize for the unintended pun...)
it gets painful to watch.

I thought they missed a real opportunity.
When you got after Republicans like that, you can't leave anything on the field and you really need to take advantage of it and make it was funny as possible (and hopefully make a few good points that get played on MSM talk shows the following Monday).

Is that he indirectly gave legitimacy to the freaking Jonas Brothers.
Hide your tweener's ears..
Gawd they suck. They go far beyond average Disney teen sensation suckage.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a 3 way lip sync/2 way guitar sync before, but the Jonas Brothers certainly delivered. They're the worst thing to happen to music in decades.

girls- would you rawk in their eyes or what? Just don't try to dance along when they played their "music." That would be tooo humiliating to your poor kids.

otherwise embarrassing, and I don't think I laughed once. Juvenile mean spirited attempts at humor that weren't funny
