1. And that's why Amy picks up viewers every day and why MTP loses us. |

2. Why I will keep DISH and FreeSpeechTV |

because it is about the only place for divergent views.

4. And this helps explain why it is SO hard to get outlets to pick up Amy Goodman |
|
We've been trying for a few years to bring her to our part of the world on public radio. So far, no luck!

5. Here in NC we do not get her on NPR / or Wunc public radio. |
|
We have to settle for DishTV and watch her on link or FreeSpeech TV. None of the cable companies carry them that I know of. Time Warner sure as hell did not. We live out in the boonies and the only option is direct or dish. We opted for Dish and while it is expensive it has been worth it. We can also get live news from EU, China and some MidEast in English.

10. Do you get Al Jazeera English? |
|
I live in the boondocks too and we have satellite TV and satellite internet. The Only English speaking news channels we can get are CNN International, BBC World and Al Jazeera English. Out of the 3, AJ English is the least restrained, most interesting and varied but BBC World and CNN International do have some good shows occasionally.

15. Al Jazeera English is by far the most professional journalism offered by ANY international |
|
English language, cable news network. In fact I have it on right now.
It even puts CNN International and BBC World Service to shame - although either of those two are vastly superior to ANY domestic commercial news service in the United States.
Regardless what people might imagine, Al Jazeera International is very balanced and fair journalism with a very moderate tone. Even when covering the Israeli elections, although they certainly offered the Arabic and Palestinian point of view - they offered it along with all points of view in an intelligent, rational, sensible, balanced and fair manner.
Al Jazeera International is what journalism is supposed to be, the kind they teach in school, but so few actually practice.

6. Because Amy Goodman knows her shit. (Forgive my French) |
|
She was there in East Timor when the bullets were flying.
Amy has a bigger context than the majority of people in the media. She knows the history that they don't know. The history that isn't in the text books. The history that requires research.
And, she hasn't sold out. So she can talk freely.
