"The House GOP Is Back": Republicans Promote Stimulus Opposition With Aerosmith

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/16/the-house-gop-is-back-rep_n_167213.html

February 16, 2009 09:34 AM

Usually, in war and politics, the victor writes the history. In the case of the soon-to-be-signed stimulus package, however, neither side is admitting defeat.

Republicans in the House of Representatives are trying to mold success out of what is, at its core, a legislative failure. The most recent bit of gloating: a back-slapping YouTube clip from minority whip Eric Cantor's office, set to the tune of Aerosmith's "Back In The Saddle."

"The House GOP is back," reads Cantor's website. Indeed. Having been relegated so far into the minority so as to be incapable of stopping a stimulus bill that it deemed wasteful and liberal, the GOP is taking solace in the unity of its opposition. Conspicuously absent from the video is any mention of the party's House leader, Rep. John Boehner (R-OH). But this video is a House Whip Production.

21. The only "loud & proud" Bush voter-slash-rocker I'm aware of is...
...Vince.

...broke my heart, too, because I grew up with all of the Alice Cooper stuff. After he parted ways with the original band, not so much...but everything between "Easy Action" and "Muscle of Love" was the soundtrack of my high school years (and beyond)...

25. I knew about Nugent but couldn't bring myself to call him a "rocker"...
...I'm reminded of the old Beatles press conference tidbit, "Are you a mod or a rocker"..."I'm a mocker."

Everytime that I look in the mirror

All these lines on my face gettin' clearer

The past is gone

It went by like dust to dawn

Isn't that the way

Everybody's got their dues in life to pay

...back when that talentless draft-dodging coward deer-baiter ted "chickenhawk" nugent had a radio show, he had some members of aerosmith hunting with him. I don't know if tyler was among them but i believe perry was there.

17. Youtube did
Warner and UMG are trolling ALL videos for traces of their music and yanking them, much to the dismay of the millions of youtubers who made them when Warner was allowing it through contract. So now the contract expired and Warner is going scorched Earth because they do not want to sign a new one.

I find it ironic that the GOPers, who pushed for corps to have unlimited power, are getting their butts burned by the very power they gave to the corps. Befitting.

22. Looks like they did it since I posted it...
...I saw the piece on Huffington Post but clicked through to YouTube so that I could post it in "Political Videos"...

...and at the time of my original post, it had sound.

Kudos to YouTube. The GOP should have learned its lesson when Springsteen told Saint Ronnie to pile sand up his ass when he wanted to anchor himself to "Born In The USA."

And for what it's worth, that is my SINGLE favorite Springsteen moment...the Boss telling Reagan to GET BENT.

:grr:

26. The first time my mother heard that song she informed me what "Back in the saddle" USED to mean
this was back in the 70's when the song was on the airwaves

I was not aware of that saying or that monthly occurrence in the female body

28. Actually, this particular song is about....
prostitution. I present the lyrics (and picturing Eric Cantor in the saddle is just a horrid visual.) :D

Im back
Im back in the saddle again
Im back
Im back in the saddle again

Ridin into town alone
By the light of the moon
Im looking for ol sukie jones
She crazy horse saloon
Barkeep gimme a drink
Thats when she caught my eye
She turned to give me a wink
That make a grown man cry

(chorus)

Come easy, go easy
All right until the rising sun
Im calling all the shots tonight
Im like a loaded gun
Peelin off my boots and chaps
Im saddle sore
Four bits gets you time in the racks
I scream for more
Fools gold out of their mines
The girls are soaking wet
Not tounges drier than mine
Ill come when I get back

Im back in the saddle again
Im back
Im back in the saddle again
Im riding, Im loading up my pistol
Im riding, I really got a fistful
Im riding, Im shining up my saddle
Im riding, this snake is gonna rattle

(chorus)

Ridin high
Ridin high
Ridin high already

27. Trashy, outlandish and tone deaf
Exactly what I expect from the House GOP. Is this their attempt to reach out to young voters? Big fail.
