The best way to get even with banks is to stop doing business with them. This is explains why credit unions are a better alternative.

http://www.bankerspank.com/ has some good links on this including how to find a credit union:

http://creditunion.coop/ (look for LOCATE A CREDIT UNION in the left sidebar)

We could probably eliminate a lot of our problems with corporate crime if we fed this model and starved the corporate one.

2. I wish it were easier to find a credit union
I think it would make it easier to starve the corporate banks.

My sister's doesn't allow siblings to join (but my Grandmother can) and the others have conditions I don't meet. <sigh>

My credit union is based in CT. (Not doing me much good although I do make a point to keep the account.)

Regards

8. I already checked.
Three have residency requirements so while I live somewhat near (and not really) I wouldn't qualify. One is really rather far out for me to travel to do my banking on a regular basis.

Like I said, it would be easier to break the corporate banks if credit unions were more easily available to join.

9. I don't bank, I use my credit union, Credit Union 1. I have been a
member for 31 years and have never regretted it.

6. Do Fractional Reseve Banking rules apply to credit unions as well?
I'm talking about those 9 : 1 lending-to-deposit ratios talked about in "Money as Debt".

7. We just refinanced our mortgage with a credit union
Took the business away from Washington Mutual/Chase and kept it local. Got a great rate too!

10. I dumped BofA today for a much smaller local bank
Their policies are much better, they're open a hell of a lot longer, and don't find every which way to charge me fees like BofA had been doing.
