From the WABC special "Danger From The Right" circa 1964 ... in this clip of a meeting of the NJ chapter of the John Birch Society discussed are parts of the September Agenda with includes 1) recruitment and 2) the drive to impeach then Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren.

Just to the right of Attila the Hun. They hit many of the talking points we hear today, activist judges, prayer in schools, etc.

3. Fascinating ...
my parents had joined around this time; we were the typical John-Birch-conservative-type family .... a facade for the outside world, and a whole bunch of crap going on in our private world. I was about six years old around this time. I remember once telling my dad that this "fear the Communists" thing was a bunch of hooey. He was mortified.

I believe that the whole situation was ironic, since my dad was probably a closet gay man or a bisexual man (I was the baby from the arranged marriage, and the grandchild to pacify the rich grandparents).

All I can say is that the whole situation taught me quite a bit about bullshit.
