Alexandra Pelosi "Right America: Feeling Wronged" |
|
Alexandra Pelosi talks to WNYC's Leonard Lopate about her new documentary Right America: Feeling Wronged. She speaks with some of the 58 million Americans who didn't celebrate the election of Barack Obama and are terrified of the new direction the country is taking. Listen to the entire interview here. http://www.wnyc.org/shows/lopate/episodes/2009/02/09/segments/123250

1. I watched that show on HBO tonight (last night?) |

It made me wonder about the comparative IQ's of the two major parties. Even taking into account that the impoverished overwhelmingly favor Democrats, I've got to figure that the average liberal IQ is at least thirty points ahead of the conservatives. It was devastating. It was like Alexandra pointed out to these people how stupid they sounded, and they replied with something like "Yeah, I know I'm really stupid, but that's just how I was raised."
ON EDIT: Mini-epiphany. White impoverished mostly vote R. Brainwashed. OK, "micro"-epiphany.

3. I think that's what happens in a conservative culture that.... |
|
for some reason has taken anti-elitism to the extreme. The right in this country is now actively embracing below average intelligence and celebrates it as authenticity

4. I tried to watch the show on HBO |
|
But frankly, after about 7 minutes, I couldn't watch anymore. I don't know what's wrong with me, I really want to understand people whose views are different than mine, but it literally turns my stomach when I listen to them. It makes me so angry, I can't possible be objective. Doesn't that make me as intolerant as they are?

5. Being tolerant of intolerance isn't a virtue, so no worries. n/t |
