1. I finally figured it out.
I keep trying to give this guy a chance because so many like him but he's always irritating. I finally figured out who he reminds me of.

uhh...oh...and another thing...know what I mean...ummm..

5. Do you want to discuss what he says?
Point out where he's wrong, show how his information is skewed?

No?

You just want to say that you don't like him and he's a doody-head? It says TYT in the thread title so you know what to expect in the video. You don't even have to put the poster on ignore to avoid them.

And comparing to Saturday Night Not-funny is pointless. (And I get that that skit was trying to show how the "political comedian" wasn't actually funny. The problem is that their satire was flat.) Cenk tries to use comedy to bring criticism to political topics. SNL uses political topics to try to be funny. I see a huge difference in the results.

6. Well said. He's one of a handful of anti-TYT trolls.
They may be fine and good people when it comes to other topics, but they're on record as hating the show yet they persist in leaving comments in order to inflame and disrupt fans who regularly watch the videos.

They do this instead of simply ignoring the videos they KNOW they won't like. Imagine watching a television show all the time that you hated, and then visiting the message board of that show to generically bash the star of it.

7. I have an opinion.
I've left maybe two or three comments about them at the most. That's not trolling. Don't be so sensitive. People are allowed to have opinions and express them. That's what a message board is for.

8. No, it's being obnoxious when you leave *non-content specific* comments bashing videos
Edited on Tue Feb-24-09 12:22 PM by ihavenobias
of a show that you've gone on record as hating.

That goes beyond simple opinion. It's a waste of your time and ours. I don't like Lionel, which means I NEVER go out of my way to watch his videos. The idea that I would do so anyway and then leave negative, generic comments bashing Lionel on top of it is ridiculous.

Let's leave it at that.

11. Fucking get over it.
As I wrote, I try to give the guy a chance once in a while so I watched it. It's a discussion board. Some people fawn over the guy and I don't. If you can't handle reading opinions you disagree with then a political discussion board isn't the right place for you. That's what DU is here for. 90% of the comments on here are a waste of time.

13. Sorry I touched a nerve.
May I suggest you no longer "give it a chance"? Because every time you do it only results in a GENERIC, negative comment. You've yet to address the *substance* of a single video, and you only serve to inflame and annoy when you comment on them.

Again, you're free to have an opinion but it's a waste of your time and ours if you know in advance that you hate his style and presentation. That means you're going to hate all of the videos, so do yourself (and the rest of us) a favor and give it up.

10. But your opinion is about the messenger and not the message.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, true.

The value of your opinion is determined by others.

Feel free to discuss the topic. Feel free to discuss the quality of the presentation. But just to say that you don't like the guy in such a vague way and continuing to do so makes your opinion less and less valuable.

15. Sure.
It's about his style. I didn't think my comment was that vague but I did clarify what I meant. I get impatient with how long he takes to make a simple point. I find it difficult to hear his message because I don't care for his delivery.

9. It's about the style.
There's so much umm...and you knows... and needless explanations. Just like the SNL video. I had to watch for five minutes for him to make a point that could have been summed up in a single sentence. "The magazine apologized for a cartoon being offensive but I didn't think it was offensive." It's annoying as hell. Too much filler. Like I said, I keep trying to give the guy a chance. If people are allowed to fawn of the guy endlessly then you can read one negative opinion without getting pissy about it.

12. Considering the fact that he doesn't do that on a regular basis on an UNSCRIPTED 3 hour show
that's done 5 days a week, I'm not sure there's much of a point.

And my previous comments still stand, so you're attempt to make people feel guilty for taking issue with your unnecessary comments (by insulting and dismissing them as people "fawn...endlessly") is questionable. And that's putting it very nicely.

20. When you accuse someone of being a troll
it strains credibility for you to play the victim over how I respond to that.

21. Not a troll in general. Just trolling TYT videos. There's a HUGE difference.
For all I know you're a wonderful guy outside of this context. Smart, funny, etc. Honestly, I don't know.

I'd say that's a pretty fair statement. I apologize and didn't mean to suggest that you were a troll overall.

19. Seriously? That's the substance of your gripe?
I'm one of the people who find his take on things to be a little too dismissive. I will forever see his opinion as tainted by his horrendous criticism of Sharon Stone; when he chastised her for saying that the Chinese people didn't deserve her help when they had the earthquakes when her statement was a self-critical assessment of herself and that she had a bit of an epiphany and realization of her own short-comings.

But you seem to have completely missed the concept of the show: It's commentary. It's all filler.

You have demonstrated that your opinion is a waste of browser space.

2. Actually, the apology makes sense to me in terms of erring on the side of caution
not in a racial sense, but in the sense that it could be interpreted, if you just saw the picture and didn't know better (and most people do look at pictures even when they don't read an article that goes with them), as a tastelessly joking reference to the very horrible original news story of the woman having her face ripped to shreds by the chimp. Especially given the relationship between the woman and the chimp prior to that.

4. I'll say it before, and i'll say it again
the problem with the NY Post's cartoon was NOT the monkey=Obama undertone, though that was horrible enough. It was the police shooting down and killing the author of the stimulus bill. The invitation to assassination was the problem, the racism was just an unfortunate though not entirely unexpected addition to the hate stew.

Some people prefer to constantly be serious and or angry. I can't imagine living such a stressful life, but to each his own I guess.

is there anything Cenk Uyger could do that you wouldn't defend him on? Youhavemuchbias.

He's a moderate republican who voted for George HW Bush, and Bob Dole and was a member of the Federalist society, so now his republican roots pop up again and you can't deny he F'd up. Well guess what? neither can he, sad really.

23. We already had this back and forth Rog. And in that back and forth
I explained that my username was tongue in cheek (although that's pretty damn obvious). More importantly, I provided specific examples on what I disagree with Cenk on.

You too need to give it up, this is growing tiresome.
