...the good old days. Back before youth were all sedated by cable teevee and the interwebs. Back when social movements were held together by humans getting together and talking to other humans. Back when people took 3-dimensional action.

2. And the country ended up with Nixon, two Bushes, and a Reagan. |

I was there and It was fun until it became clear how deadly serious those guys with clubs were. They would kill us all in a heartbeat. The fact is the people who are writing their blogs and organizing communities will accomplish what we didn't.

You betcha there's a reason why the US goes with an all-volunteer (support the troops!) army supplemented by mercenaries, or even better, proxy gov'ts and proxy armies supplemented with CIA training. That 2nd degree of remove means it just doesn't f*&ken matter beyond the current news cycle for the majority of drones, no matter how many are killed or how long the killing goes on. And it means there are as many or more on DU itching to expand am endless war (on terra!) into Pakistan as there are willing to question it. It means the difference in views is "just politics" - kinda like a difference between "center left" and "centrist".

to $40,000 to go to Iraq.
I wonder if because we have truly less educated youth, and less middle class youth who can afford to take time off to protest that we don't seem these young people hitting the streets to take action against the war. There certainly doesn't seem to be the moral outrage that their was in the 60s and 70s about this unjust war.
