Speaking at a press conference on Feb 25 with DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart, and reiterating a position made by the White House following DEA raids in California on February 4, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told reporters that ending federal raids on medical marijuana dispensaries "is now American policy." The Attorney General's comments are the latest sign of a sea change in federal policy that prohibits the use of medical cannabis in the thirteen states that have enacted such laws.

1. Wow
Somehow I just didnt expect the AG of the US to say something like that. I wonder if CA will pass that bill to legalize and tax marijuana.

6. There is really no reason not to pass it now.
People will continue to smoke cannabis regardless of the law. The most harmful side-effect is arrest and prison.

Like Amsterdam, California could be a model for the rest of the world.

3. A good first step to be certain
But there's a lot of work to be done to get to the goal which as we all know is legalization.

And tax the living shit out of it if you want. But legalize it.

Right now.

11. They were more like skam artists, that case is a little more complicated
than the other busts. But 20 years was obscene and was given by a Bush prosecutor

12. fantastic
a victory for

1) COMMON SENSE
2) states rights (i realize that may imply bad things ot many people, but it's about the federal govt. respecting states when they EXPAND rights, not curtail them (a la prop 8))
3) popular will (see #2)
