1. whats the big deal?
She broke the rules of the House. I love Code Pink but if they get busted and asked to leave, its not the fault of the chairman.

6. Good.
They're an embarrassment. All they do is dress up in silly clothes to be a distraction in hearings.

When Valerie Plame was testifying, one of those Code Pink people was standing over her shoulder in the frame and being very distracting. Instead of all of my attention being on Valerie Plame and what she was saying, I was trying to figure out who the hell was standing behind her and whether he/she was going to be holding up banners, etc. (especially because I wasn't aware he/she was from Code Pink, and it was that member who's a transvestite veteran, so as far as I knew, there was just a very buff man dressed in a pink Jackie-O dress standing behind Valerie Plame!)

Yes, we have freedom of speech in this country, but not the right to make a pointless disturbance. Just as it would be perfectly permissible for a librarian to have some people making a disturbance in a library removed because people are expected to be quiet and respectful of others' desire to read and study in peace, it's permissible to expect people at a public hearing to not make any sort of disturbance.

I don't have any sympathy for people who think their right to free speech includes crashing hearings--and that is precisely what these Code Pink people are doing, because they are clearly not there to listen and be part of the audience, but rather to make a spectacle and appropriate the hearing for themselves.

7. Agreed
There is a time and place for that, and it's not in a hearing. It IS embarrassing.

14. "Those Code Pink" people have dedicated their lives to ending this war
They are doing more than anyone in the country, including Congress, to bring our troops home.

And why is it so important to point out that the Code Pinker at the Valerie Plame hearing was a trangendered person? Does that make her message any less important? Her name is Midge Potts and she has been in DC since January, living on donations, lobbying Congress. She essentially gave up her comfortable life to work on ending the damn war.

What are you willing to give up to fight for a cause you believe in? I refuse to criticize these brave people, as I am sitting here in my suburban home, just home from my job, looking forward to a relaxing weekend. I know what I am eating tonight and I know where I am sleeping. That is more than most of the Code Pinkers have. And when this war finally ends, it will be largely due to their efforts, not mine and certainly not yours.

8. Disrupting THAT meeting...
Impedes the effort to get to the bottom of things. That is Bad Form.

Code Pink needs to recognize friendlies, as well as targets.

9. I saw her...
I saw the woman who was ejected walking towards the Union Station Metro station as I was coming back from lunch yesterday. She had on an interesting costume--police uniform with a pink shirt-- and I thought "She's a little old to be a stripper."

I love that woman, so tender and so tough. Also one of the kindest but most effective people I have ever met. Great picture.

10. Dont make any statements? WTF?
Is she Gonzo?

Yeah, I get the rules of the House but I also get the rules of the fucking nation. When we throw out the giggling murderer then we should throw out the women screaming over him NOT being thrown out.

Just makes me fucking mad.

Go girls!
Love you code pink!

As some military shit I once worked with said if you're not receiving flak you're not over the target.

Go go go go go go go go go go go!

Bye bye mommy.

Hello ....

So even that's too controversial for you wusses. Bye bye. See you in another life, and there'll be plenty of those.

The future is so ours. Get over it little boys. Start reading!

19. Funny but inappropriate
Totally in agreement...but that was certainly not the proper forum. Her display dilutes the seriousness of the issue..makes Code Pink look flaky..IMO

20. Yeah, by that "arch conservative" John Conyers. Good for him.
I wish they'd gotten the toss when Valerie Plame was testifying, frankly. Instead of getting coverage of that testimony, we got the Jeannie Moos satire on pink tiaras and idiotic gestures.
