5. She completely unnerved him .... |
|
Kind of a pity that she spent that time playing around without expounding a message ....
BUT .... Perhaps she has earnt the right to have some fun now without worrying about carrying the baton for a movement ... Perhaps ....

7. Maybe Rahm Emanuel will relent.... |

about Democratic congresspersons appearing on Colbert. Maybe all Democrats could sit on his lap, now.

10. I like Jane Fonda, but that was a little creepy |
|
Can you imagine the howls of protest if an old guy did that to a female host thirty years his junior?

I think it's testament to whom Stephen is. I tried to describe it in my post below.
He and Jon are on to something. They have a formula. And it's powerful.

12. Not a single mainstream media talking head can hold a candle to him. |
|
I've been thinking about him since that "interview".
A couple of things come to mind. First, he's lightyears ahead of anyone in the media. But more than that, there is something important and revealing about why Jane Fonda would act the way she did. Of course it's an act. But it's more than that. Stephen has something everyone wants. Humor. Just look at O'Reilly. Who on earth would want to hang around with him? Rove. Cheney. Now I'll admit, on some weird level, Bush actually has something. He has a twinge of humor to him. But he's been bought out. Just like when Tenet was on the Daily Show, and Jon ended the interview with his disbelief. Tenet left without convincing anyone that he was not in the loop. Stephen is on that level. Knowledge combined with humor. It takes transcending above in order to do it. He's extraordinary. But O'Reilly isn't stupid. He just won't do what Stephen is doing.
I'm not sure I did it justice. There's power in what Stephen is doing. I think that's the bottom line. For all of the money Cheney has, and O'Reilly makes, Stephen ecclipses them in his GOOD power. And that's attractive.

That was the best video and it was so adorable to see Colbert getting red in the cheeks!
Would have loved to be a fly on the wall when he got home that night!

19. That's the first time I've ever seen Colbert caught off-guard. |
|
Ever.
He's usually so quick to recover when people do something unexpected, and I really don't think he had any idea what to do this time. He still handled himself very well, though, and it's a pretty funny clip. :D
