Yes, Dems will have to raise taxes. Someone has to pay off the clusterfuck that the Bush administration has left us in. The middle class is going to have to pay, no matter what. The question is merely this - are they going to pay a lot because Republicans are in power and will continue giving tax breaks to the rich, or will they only pay a moderate amount because Democrats are in power and will force the rich to pay their fair share?

Also, Maher's demeanor is much better in that clip. In the past I've said that he's an ineffective spokesman because of his attitude. Unlike Jon Stewart's "aw shucks, I'm just a regular guy" attitude, Maher always has a very smarmy "I'm better than you" attitude, which dilutes the effectiveness of what he has to say.

Because he isn't beholden to either party's apparatus.

Look at the people here, for instance. We all gathered behind the 2000 version of Al Gore because the DLC told us to, and told us we had no other choice. We didn't consider alternatives in that year because Clinton pretty much appointed Gore as his successor.

In 2004 the DLC told us Kerry was the best choice - better a malleable, passionless sack of beans than an "uncouth" Howard Dean. People are still telling us that. Blah.

Now we're being told we must choose between Gore, Kerry or Clinton. No others need apply. And the sheeple are still lining up in the pens behind one of them. Of the Big Three candidates, can you imagine any of them facing off against George Bush in a public debate and saying "You're full of shit?"

If you can't imagine that, could it be because they couldn't withstand the same charge if it was thrown against them?

I really don't see how this is an answer to what I said. Maher acts like a stuck-up prick with his delivery. If he wants to be a stand-up comic, that's fine. If he actually wants to influence people's political thoughts, he has to stop acting like he's better than everyone else. Even if he believes that he is.

I wish more journalist would cover topics that many are not aware about such as the price gouging in Iraq. So this is how they support the troops, First: place them in disaster zone. Second spend the money on bogus contracts and fill Cheney's fat hemorrhoid ass pockets.Third, complain that there is no money for equipment to protect the troops then give the troops another zap of morale by charging them outrageous prices for food and drink in an area with poor sanitation and no electricity. Bill Clinton ripped Chris Wallace and Pox News a new asshole. He showed some spine.
The problem with Democrats is that they're afraid of what the Republican media will say about them. News Flash to Democratic leaders: The Republican media will crap all over you so you may as well fight back.
Gore bought the Republican propaganda and distanced himself from Clinton by choosing Holy Joe Lieberman as a running mate. The Republicans jumped for joy. John Kerry didn't slam Bush's AWOL during the Vietnam War for reasons unbeknown to anyone outside Skull and Bones.
Every political decision Democrats make should be done with this in mind: Republicans always lie, not just some of the time, but all of the time.
Ku Klux Karl made the rules and if we play nice we lose. When repubes start to stumble, push them down and place a boot firmly on their necks.
Every closeted Republican has to be outed: Dreier, McConnell, Hatch, Bush, Rove, et al. They must be destroyed if we are to survive as a democracy. Theocratic oligarchs belong in Saudi Arabia, not the USA.

1. When they say Democrats will raise taxes, you say,

Yes we need money to catch Osama bin Laden so we'll raise Paris Hilton's taxes. George, you'll never get Osama because you don't handle money wisely. It's the economy stupid!



2. When they say the terrorists want the Democrats to win, you say:

Why? George Bush is a terrorist's wet dream. He never deals with the root cause to problems. So the terrorists will always have a reason to attack as long as Bush is in power.



3. When they say cut and run, or defeat-o-crat, you say:

We tried occupying Vietnam and it didn't work. It sure doesn't look like it's working in Iraq. War you say? It's not a war any longer, it's an occupation. Let's get our troops back on american soil where they can protect OUR gates.



4. When they say that actual combat veterans like John Kerry are denigrating the troops, you say:

We're for the war, but since you don't know how to handle a war you've turned it into an occupation. The Iraqis don't want us there and we don't want to stay. Yes we want to help the Iraqi people but priority number one for our troops should be to protect Americans and we still live here on american soil.




5. When they say Democrats are obstructionists, you say:

Yep. Mark Foley, Katrina, foreigners buying and controlling our ports, Halliburton, Enron. There are plenty of things we'd obstruct. But we wouldn't obstruct help from arriving when people need it, we wouldn't obstruct people's votes from being counted and their ability to hold the administration accountable. Most importantly we wouldn't obstruct Paris Hilton and her family from paying taxes.

And that's how we'd catch Osama bin Laden.
