...political vacuum left open by among others William F Buckley Jr and Gore Vidal taking on character traits of both personae. I think Christopher Hitchens could very well be a one man debating society, but to be effective he needs other personalities present primarily as props.

There is no more effective speaker on the non-religious perspective out there right now.
His discourse at the end of this clip, about resisting the temptations of salvation through imagined religious idols and false secular totalitarian ideologies while, at the same time, discovering the pleasure of thinking for one's self, is very moving.
