1. Oh, I love this! Thanks for posting it
I voted for "City of Blinding Lights," but I like them all. I think she should stay away from "Beautiful Day," though, because it was used so heavily in '04.

5. If she wants to get on the winning
bandwagon she should probably choose the Illinois (Illini) Fight Song since the next Democratic presidential nominee will most likely come from the great state of Illinois. ;-)

8. Social psychology manipulation x 2 or 3...
Foot-in-the-door -- get people to show a small behavior for your cause and this will increase their commitment enough that they will perform a larger action in future. Examples: Salesman drops a pencil and asks you to pick it up, you do so because it is a smaller request and you are now much more likely to buy from him. Someone collecting donations for your local environmental council makes a pitch to ask you to sign their petition and you do so - when they ask for a donation you are much more likely to donate. If you go to their website to vote on a song, then you may return to read the news or sign up for their email, and you may be likely to donate, and you may vote for her without having considered much more than "she seems real nice."

Emotional manipulation by altering your associations in such a way that EVERYONE has a positive association with Hillary -- everyone goes and picks their favorite song and hears it playing in their head while thinking of Hillary. Positive association to Hillary increases AND everyone gets exactly what they want. If Hillary picked a song and played it, some people would like it and form a positive association - other people would dislike it. By having everyone "go vote" on the campaign theme song the campaign doesn't have to commit to anything. Same tactic politicians use when they use phrases that could mean different things to different people -- "family values" can mean a 1,000 different things to a thousand different people.

These tactics should be stopped. They are emotionally manipulative and direct our attention away from rational consideration of the facts. Are we really so juvenile that we are swayed toward a candidate because we get to vote on the campaign song? Are we really so juvenile that we buy car insurance because we like the gecko?

Don't co-operate with this silliness. Reject it.

I don't give a shit which candidate I would "rather have a beer with" and I don't give a shit what their campaign theme songs are -- I am sick of being insulted by these obvious manipulations of emotion.

AND, YES, I WILL CALL THIS AS I SEE IT IN ANYONE'S CAMPAIGN.

She got the nod from the powers that b...(b for bilderberg) and this attempt at positive association is part and parcel with approved media tactics for selling ANYTHING.

To answer your direct question "do people buy stuff because they like the mascot?"...YEP.

Thank the Goebels underlings that were brought over here after WWII to help with the American Propoganda Machine, aka, Mass Media. They were brought into the CIA and have been playing with peoples minds ever since...

I will take off my tin hat now...:tinfoilhat:

My vote was 'Mack the Knife'....;-)

14. Take heart ...
only two votes so far. This is very manipulative but I am sure we will see it from most of the others as well. I personally would rather be won over with a great plan or idea rather than a trick. Guess I just think that well of myself. :)

Wondering how many of the posters on this thread were already going to vote for her?

11. Side note-people, including us, have no idea what they are about to get with Hillary
Yes we may be much more informed about her policy stances and voting record but everyone is about to get to know Hillary and she is not who/what she has been painted as by the MSM (carrying RW water). I'm not a supporter but trust me, we are about to see one of the sharpest individuals in this country introduce herself and we are going to be impressed.

by its cover. Look deep and read between the lines and parse the RHETORIC.

If you think Willy was slick...watch what they pull out for Hilly. It will be quite a show.

Edited on Fri May-18-07 03:13 PM by mikelewis

I'm not reading between any more lines... here on out, it's strictly superficial analysis for me... God only knows what demons Hilary has...

...but on a serious note... I like her husband and if he believes in her, that's a pretty damn good endorsement in my mind. Bill Clinton loves this country, almost as much as he loves sax, and I have no doubt about his sincerity... He says she's good people... in my mind, the endorsement of the last real President of the United States speaks volumes... That bought her a shot at my vote... I don't like her policies all that much but I'd choose her over any Republican any day of the week...

..."In the election, you fall in line."

So let it be written, so let it be done.
