4. Gonzales who will get a vote of no confidence from the U.S. Congress
....would be considered by Shrub* as his appointee to the vacated position of President at the World Bank? That would be the ultimate in cronyism.

The 14 Characteristics of Fascism

#13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

As for the reasons for how names got put on the list of 26 U.S. Attorneys (and I had heard it was 30) up for replacement, it is becoming pretty obvious these were political/religious reasons as Bush was attempting to stack all of the DOJ top attorneys with his "kind of republican relgious extreme RW" people exclusively.

6. why is this putz Shuster trying to excuse their malevolence as "nonchalance"
Oh, they really weren't out to get those attorneys; they were just sloppy and "nonchalant". Based on the information I've been reading, the Bush cronies had these attorneys in their sights for months, because they weren't politically loyal enough. That ain't "nonchalance", that's deliberate malevolence.

7. I thought Shuster did good.
It's true, malicious would be a better descriptor, but I think he made solid showing, being journalistic and all.
