Notice how dignified, calm and well spoken Chavez is when he is not rearing up the crowds with (justified) anti-American sentiment. Even the ABC news anchor was impressed. I think this is the only honest report on Chavez that was ever aired in the US mainstream media.

I think when Chavez says "you messed up with me, birdie", he's referring to the failed coup d'etat against him in 2002, which I believe was sponsored by the Bush administration (at least they publicly welcomed it).
