:patriot:

At the end, when he'd finished speaking, you could hear the chant of "Run, Al, Run!" :bounce:

1. Of course, they want him to run for president
Everyone is sick of having a president whose IQ is indistinguishable from his shoe size. Even high school students recognize that whomever we choose for president should be smart! Let's clean up our elections so that we can get a real leader in office next time.

3. Amusing Ourselves to Death
As Neil Postman said, we're "amusing ourselves to death".

4. I went to this event!

And had my book signed by Gore. The line was so long, he wouldn't personalize, he wasn't even looking up at people and we were getting shuffled through and not even allowed to take any pics while near the table.

But I kept telling him he has to run. I just said several times in a row, "you have to, you have to, you have to." And then he took the time to look up and really make eye contact and said thank you.

I hope he does.

6. Because of course, this is really a "campaign book"
Even though Mr. Gore states that it is not. :eyeroll: The comment I found absolutely chilling in his discussion of this book was that he too questions not only the behavior of Bush and Cheney but how we the people have allowed it to get this far. That is how they know that no matter how far they take this they don't have to worry about being held accountbale. That sounds like the death knell to Democracy to me, and it is chilling because as far as I can see, they aren't finished yet.

7. I hope Gore doesn't run for Preznit....
He's a great man, and he's got a sharp mind with lots of energy. The problem I see is another Walter Mondale or Hubert Humphrey situation. Not enough charisma. Now I realize that's shallow thinking. You need to remember this isn't the brightest country in the world, and we elected dumb shit twice (possibly). I just think the repugs are going to pull some reagan/schwarzeneger out of their pocket, and all the dumb shits in this country are going to forget what matters (if they ever realize it) and vote for the actor again.

I'd be up for have Gore as VP again, as he could probably accomplish more on the global war on pollution than he could from the preznit's chair anyway.

10. Right...
that's why he's the hottest thing on the talk show circuits. He's an academy award winner who's just released an incredible book. He's got rock star charisma right now. And that extends beyond our borders. He is very well liked and respected around the world.

Who are you expecting the repugs to pull out of thin air? Jack Bauer?

Run Al, Run!!!

11. Are you implying that by contrast, bu$hit HAS "charisma"?
Edited on Wed May-30-07 12:09 AM by Triana
Because if there was ever a posterboy for the lack of it, GWB has got to be it. He's even lousy at his psychopathic empathetic fakery. He can't even feign empathy well. His nasal, monotone, inhuman, pre-programmed speeches are pathetic when he talks about Darfur, for instance or those dying in Iraq. He is a disgusting mockery of humanity, morality and conscience. And "charisma" is nowhere in his gene pool. What he has, is power and money - and he's a ruthless psychopath. NOT Charisma.

This is all to say:

CHARISMA is not what it takes to be a great President. Power and money and being a ruthless, conscienceless psychopath like bu$hit is not what it takes to make a great President....(it makes a great fascist dictator and helps him get the job though, obviously)

VISION and INTELLIGENCE is what it takes to make a great President - and Gore has that in SPADES.

It helps to have an electorate that is intelligent enough to ELECT someone with these qualities and to NOT allow opposition party election fraud to keep the man who SHOULD have the job from getting it, like what happened in 2000.

Charisma is irrelevant. Not to mention grossly over-rated - JUST LIKE that "entertainment" the lamestream media now shoves down our throats in lieu of actual news or facts. I can't believe you're buying into the "charisma" trap.

Dude - wake UP! That is what the "Assault on Reason" is about. And it appears yours has been assaulted.

Hello?

12. Have been told by several "moderate" Dems here in small town Texas
that when he was in the area while gov (doing some bridge dedication think, aka tax payer's paid for pre-election junket) that baby bush is very charismatic. Can't see it myself but they agreed that he is. All I can see is an evil smirking dolt. Even Randi Rhodes thinks he is handsome. (That was her comment about his appearance when the Queen visited. Made me gag.)Never underestimate the appeal of dumb to dumb.

8. Common Sense....
that's really all I've heard from this man lately. But, of course, the pundits want to paint any opposition to Bush as partisan rather than reality.

That's the sad truth of politics and the media in this country.

Gore has made quite clear what many of the constitutional violations of the Bush administration are. I'd say he's really only scratching the surface, but hopefully we'll hear more later.

It's time we start demanding that the government follow the bill of rights - it's not just a group of mere suggestions, it's the law.

9. Every time he speaks it's great
I'm an Obama supporter right now, but as soon as Al jumps in the ring it'll be bye bye Barack. Gore is the only name in the party right now that doesn't have a downside. With Hillary it'll be I Love the 90's all over again with all of the Clinton-haters crawling over hot coals to keep her from winning. Obama doesn't have enough experience. Edwards isn't big enough. You can call me an Al supporter.

14. Standing Ovation
Every time I hear this man speak I give a mental standing ovation. I would certainly vote for him again. I refer to him as Mr. President anyway. And no, it is not sour grapes over a stolen election, just wishful thinking. Can anyone imagine GWB (aka dufus) speaking intelligently on any subject for 10 minutes? (Or at all, for that matter.)
