The guy with the least time aloted made the most important point of the debate: moral leadership matters!

5. What could you say?
I miss the debate. Did any of them even try to come back? Or did they quickly change the topic? My money is on 'changed the topic'...none of them could say anything as far as I am concerned...they were complicit on the vote for the war and they are complicit now.

Of course, my opinion.

Peace

8. Some guilty looks too, I thought.
Go, Gravel! Thank God he's in there with them, letting a teensy little bit more truth come out. Who knows, the truth might even reach some of THEIR ears!

4. His stand on flat tax may need work...
But the guy has some great points. He obviously is not a front runner and for a good reason, he is not in anyone's pocket - at least as far as I can tell.

A politician with a moral conscience? Last time that happened it was in a movie - Mr. Smith goes to Washington...

Peace

7. More from Gravel
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=156441428

This is from Mike Gravel's My Space page. I am not a supporter or detractor but I confess this man makes some great points here... if you have the time go have a listen.

During the last debate, I thought I saw him raise his hand on the question who was FOR making English the Official Language. I normally would not have cared one way or the other figuring there were more important things for folks to worry over but both Senator Clinton and Senator Kucinich made very valid points why this is a bad idea. I recall agreeing with them and feeling sorry that Gravel raised his hand.

10. The more I hear from Mike Gravel--

the more I like him.
He's not afraid to say what needs to be said.

Kick and Recommended.

Here's a wild idea!-

Everyone who thinks Gravel is the best Dem. candidate vote
for him in the primaries.

Damn the polls- the MSM won't even give him enough time in the debates.

11. He's right about not knowing what will happen if we pull from Iraq.
Edited on Wed Jun-06-07 02:54 PM by Drunken Irishman
I get tired of the same people that told us we'd be greeted as liberators prior to the war telling us the bottom will fall out if we leave. They have no credibility at all on this issue and it's about time someone calls them on it. The unfortunate thing here is that way too many people, even liberals, buy this line and until we persuade them against it, the Iraq War will only continue to go on.

I do like the comparison to Vietnam, because it's one I've been using to defend leaving Iraq against those that believe the opposite. The fact is, throughout the 60s and 70s, the American government told the people that leaving Vietnam would start the domino effect and communism would rapidly engulf Southeast Asia and then the world. And while there were some countries that fell to communism, the bogeyman never really got off the ground and even in some cases were overthrown rather easily, I'm thinking Pol Pot in Cambodia. Outside of some smaller nations, communism never spread anywhere it hadn't already been. Who's to say when we leave Iraq things will get any worse than they are now? And if so, then I think it's far more important that the American government protect American troops and not allow them to continue being sitting ducks out there. I know that sounds harsh, but to the President of the United States, those troops are citizens and therefore it's his job to protect them to the best of his ability. Keeping them over in Iraq is not going to do that and it will only amount to more slaughtering of our men and women.
