It surprises a lot of people to learn that not only does slavery still exist across the globe, but that the human trafficking industry is still thriving. And this isn't just in third world, underdeveloped countries - Its happening in our own backyard. And while efforts have been made to reduce the number of people who are kidnapped and put to work as laborers or prostitutes, the global recession is causing the human slave trade to reach new heights.
