It surprises a lot of people to learn that not only does slavery still exist across the globe, but that the human trafficking industry is still thriving. And this isn't just in third world, underdeveloped countries - Its happening in our own backyard. And while efforts have been made to reduce the number of people who are kidnapped and put to work as laborers or prostitutes, the global recession is causing the human slave trade to reach new heights. Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire talks about this rise in trafficking, and what efforts are being done to control it, with Benjamin Skinner, author of the book "A Crime so Monstrous: Face-to-Face with Modern Day Slavery."

1. Human trafficking should be nothing less than life in prison

I know that opinion will offend people, but I can't see any reason to allow someone that would enslave another human another free breath from the time they are caught.

2. No offence here. I absolutely agree.

Humanity will be destroyed mostly by its corruption and there is no greater violation of a person than to rob them of their freedom and force a life of misery, rape, violence, pain, and fear on them. It's just sick and truly scary for our children that these monsters really do exist.
