Rep. Paul Broun claims the public option ‘is gonna kill people.’

In a speech on the House floor this afternoon, Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) railed against health care reform. Specifically, Broun attacked the idea of a public plan, saying “this program of ‘government option’ is being touted as being the panacea, the savior of allowing people to have quality health care at an affordable price is gonna kill people.” Broun pointed to Canada and the United Kingdom in his argument against the public option, claiming that those countries “don’t have the appreciation of life as we do in our society.”

As Media Matters Action points out, Canada and the United Kingdom actually enjoy both a lower infant mortality rate and longer life expectancy than the United States.

4. well he does make sense - Canada and the UK do not appreciate life as we do
he said so - so must be true.

Wonder what those in Canada and the UK would say about that.

12. "Canada and the UK do not appreciate life as we do"...
...is quite truthful. You see, they appreciate it more. That's why they offer their people health care. That's why they don't have the death penalty. That's why they are against starting wars for no damn reason, and when one of theirs does, like Blair, he gets the boot. Face it, they are simply better than these stupid hicks, who have nothing to offer but fear as they serve their corporate masters.

6. The GOP Health Scare Plan.
As a former health care giver, I am shocked and sad to see what has become of health care in America.

Clearly in Tennessee and Virginia, profit care comes ahead of patient care. How many more innocent people have to die for pure greed ?

7. Allow me to translate for you
"Ive been paid a lot of money by corporate insurance lobbyist to make up some bullshit that most of my constituents will be far too stupid to question. Plus it gives me something else to do other than playing golf Monday through Friday. Of course I should point out that I have never been to Canada or Great Britain. But that doesn't matter. Cause you see I just know this is true because Rush Limbaugh told me so."

Rep. Paul Broun (R- GA)

9. Really republicantdumbfuck?
Because I know someone whose British aunt got two knee replacements and later needed a brain tumor removed, no waiting in line, didn't have to pay either.

Plus, this person's British cousin, who suffers from diabetes, gets two ..TWO...in home visits twice a week from a nurse to check up on him, plus a maid who comes in once a week to clean the house, because his diabetes is severe. And this person doesn't pay for that either. Neither the visits nor the maid service.

NOW TELL ME FREEPERS WHICH SOCIETY "APPRECIATES" LIFE MORE??? The for-profit health conglomerate one, or the universal health care one?

Apparently one must have a lobotomy in order to run as a republican.

10. I am a Canadian.
We have a respect for life, in general. I am alive because of it, thank you. My son is alive because of it. I was hit by a taxicab when pregnant with my son. All care for my injuries, pre- and post-natal care, and ongoing care for the aftermath of injuuries has been taken care of.

Care for fibromyalgia, pain management clinics, etc., have been taken care of.

Were I in the US, this would not likely have been the case.

Single payer health care is the way to go.
