3. An utter fear-mongering distortion of Mayan teachings

This Hollywood horror film must have been put together by a pack of cronies with a wicked bad case of RepubliconThink, or something. It in no way approximates what I have ever heard any respected Mayan Daykeeper articulate about the calendar and our current era. The film does a profound dis-service to these sacred teachings of Turtle Island (North America) by using them to stir up fear -- a useless, energy-sucking state of being.

The theme I hear from the elders is transition to the new calendar, a new era, not an Apocalypse. Well, really, they say it's up to us. We human beings can create an apocalypse during this transition out of our fear (cue the movie), or we can create and fulfill the promises of the soon emerging Fifth World -- which can be predominately characterized by honesty, caring, sharing, and respect (cue your better nature).

It's up to us. So the elders have said it. So I have heard it.

The beginning of the Age of Aquarius. Or do they have a different date. Personally, I can't wait. I'm so sick of greed. I hope the next age is capitalism free.

4. WOW!

DEATH!! DESTRUCTION! DRAMATIC MUSIC! BIG NOISE! Well, unless the reviews say it majorly sucks, I'll probably see it. Looks better than most of the Sci-Fi Channel movies anyway. Global catastrophe movies are one of my many guilty pleasures.
