Who died while the Bush Regime was in power?

David Kelly?
Benazir Bhutto?
J. H. Hatfield?
Gary Webb?
Mike Connell?

The list is endless.

2. I think he missed the boat here
It is hard to keep track of the scandals without a scorecard. He is blurring a bunch of stuff, and we really need to hep each one sharply in focus.

On the subject of the briefings where Pelosi accused the CIA of misleading Congress, this is a debate about how rough we were with prisoners. It is pretty obvious by now that we did a lot of torturing and it is equally apparent that the CIA tried to disclose to Congress as little of that as possible. Considering that everyone was aware we were holding hostages, and that torture was a real possibility, there could be a reasonable argument about how diligently Pelosi did her job in those briefings. Was she happy to let them do their see-no-evil, speak-no-evil routine so that she didn't have to be personally accountable? Could be. That whole think is mostly beltway games.

But we must not confuse that with this latest situation. The Panetta disclosure is a who different deal. This was a program that had intentionally been kept completely secret from Congress. The "gang of 8" had no way to press for the facts in their briefings because they didn't know of the very existence of the program, whatever it is. This is not a matter of nuance or degree. This is unquestionably a case of a rogue organization being accountable to nobody but Cheney.

When we mix these issues together, we are making it easy for the perps to get off the hook.
