First of all California is in its fifth year of drought so of course there are water shortages for everyone including farmers. Second of all environmentalists did not bring the law suit which forced farmers to not drain the California delta dry of water and instead it was the state commercial fishermen's industry association which brought that law suit. The fisherman, correctly, thought that no river water means no place for salmon to spawn and so there would be no salmon for the fisherman to catch. Go figure.

Lastly as for the "oil seeping into the ocean" in Southern California... Yes, there are naturally occuring oil seeps in the Santa Barbara area but the whole Santa Barbara basin has been and continues to be extensively drilled and pumped. I'm a geologist who actually worked in the oil industry in Santa Barbara and I can assure you that the formation is being pumped as fast as possible without allowing pressure to drop to unacceptable levels. In fact they're even using steam injection in those wells now in order to keep pressure up and liquefy the heavier oil in order to make it easier to pump and so increase oil production.

Lastly, Sotomeyer has not had all of her cases over turned and in fact her rate of being overturned is actually below average for the judges on her circuit. The man just has no idea what he is talking about.
