1. I can't watch that right now but is he saying those exact words in that context?
If so the man needs to be censured and forced to go to sensitivity training before being given access to a mike for government business again.

3. Here's the exact quote
You voted not to reconsider the prior case. You voted to stay with the decision of the circuit. And in fact your vote was the key vote. Had you voted with Judge Cabranes, himself of Puerto Rican ancestry, had you voted with him, you could’ve changed that case.

6. I don't understand Session's point.
She should have sided with another Puerto Rican just because she's also Puerto Rican? But wouldn't that be racist?

He keeps using that word. I don't think it means what he thinks it means.

12. Sessions point is
that he is a bigot and sees everything through racist colored glasses. He can't understand that a person of Puerto Rican ancestry wouldn't vote with their fellow Puerto Rican. Sessions has a long documented history of racist statements. The fact that he is questioning Sotomayor on her supposed "racism" is nothing short of pathetic.

10. The media won't cover his stupidity, rather they will focus on Sotomayor and try to twist
something out of what she says.

13. Maddow had a long segment last night
on Sessions history of racist statements. So it is out there but this should be the lead story whenever this waste of space tries to question Sotomayor on the issue of race. It is mind numbing that the Republican party want someone like Sessions representing their view that Sotomayor is a racist. It is almost like they are trying to be irrelevent on purpose. I really cant understand it.

18. I fully understand that Republicans
make no sense to me or anyone who posts on this message board, what doesn't make sense is their inability to see when their own actions hamper their own ability to get elected. Alienating Hispanic and women voters by taking a stand against a Supreme Court nominee who in the words of one of their party leaders is going to get confirmed anyway is inexplicable. The short sightedness of the Republican party in 2009 is what is mind numbing. I just wonder why they don't seem to have their best interests at heart.

They are really really pretty dumb, one has to be really dumb to be in politics all these years and not figure it out.

Just look at them all!

15. Sessions is an embrassment. He is one of those "throwbacks" to pre-civilization.
ATAVISM:The term atavism (derived from the Latin atavus, a great-grandfather's grandfather; more generally, an ancestor) denotes the tendency to revert to ancestral type. An atavism is an evolutionary throwback, such as traits reappearing which had disappeared generations ago.<2> Atavisms occur because genes for previously existing phenotypical features are often preserved in DNA, even though the genes are not expressed in some or most of the organisms possessing them.

Bet Sessions(Racist-Alabama) was born with a tail.

Plenty of "other states" are filled with idiot racist voters, as well.

And we DID elect Don Siegelman. Twice.

19. What a dumbass
Is he assuming that anybody of PR ancestry have the same "life experiences" (Judge Sotomayor's term) that should lead them to the same uniform conclusions?

Tell me, Senator, what is it about white males that they reached so many split decisions over the years?

29. Was blocked from the federal bench himself - hypocrytical a-hole Repug as uaual
Sen. Jeff Sessions, the Republican equating Sonia Sotomayor's supposed empathy with racial bias, was blocked from the federal bench himself two decades ago for making insensitive remarks about the Ku Klux Klan and the NAACP.

The third-term Alabama senator, this week at least, is the face of a party without a clear leader. His role strikes some as hypocritical. But arguably, no one knows more intimately what a political minefield race has been for the GOP.

Nominated by President Ronald Reagan to the federal bench, Sessions, then a federal prosecutor, was attacked by liberals for "gross insensitivity" on matters of race. Notably, he is reported to have joked that the KKK — a violent white supremacist group during much of its history — wouldn't be so bad but for their use of marijuana. The NAACP and the American Civil Liberties Union, he allegedly said, were communist-inspired and tried to force civil rights down people's throats.

Sessions' nomination never made it to the Senate floor. His home-state senator, the late Howell Heflin, voted against him.
