The fact that you know about the deceptions, speaks directly to the absurdity of what this guy is claiming. The Soviets were watching CLOSELY. Amateurs where monitoring the transmissions independently of government. There were tracking stations around the world that followed the flight there and back. They didn't have the capacity at the time to full automate the entire flight. There HAD to be a crew on board. Any attempt to falsify the plot would have involved way too many actors, and would have easily been detected by other nations. There would have been literally hundreds of "Downing Street Memos" floating around.
