While the economy of every other nation on Earth is in decline, China's economy grew by EIGHT percent this year thanks to a combination of MASSIVE government spending on infrastructure and forcing banks to LEND, LEND, LEND.

China is doing what America did in the 1930's to get out of The Great Depression, but on steroids. Once again, we are shown PROOF of what WORKS, and STILL we hear Conservatives arguing that government spending will only make the problem worse.

(AUTHOR'S NOTE: As soon as I uploaded the video, I've already got Freepers rating it "1 star".)

2. No connection.
What do "building codes" have to do with the effects of spending on the economy?

4. My point was exactly what I said. I'd love to spend, spend, spend on the
economy via an infrastructure overhaul, but that's as much as I would mirror the Chinese efforts given that they use substandard materials and techniques. That was all. (Well, forcing the banks to lend money sounds good too. :) )

5. No building code -- good
Building go up, workers get paid.
Building fall down, workers clean up and get paid again.
Building go up again, workers get paid again.
Building fall down and kill first set of workers, second set of workers buries the corpses and gets paid.
See how the economy keeps going?

6. A great guy once left us for China..
He tried to get a job in the USA. Hong Kong called to hire him to help with the Finances there at about $115,000 per (1980 prices). He said yes since no other offers were forthcoming, but did not sign. A major US university then offered him over $300,000. The shy genius came to see me. Since he was a Buddhist his choice was clear. His word is his bond. I did not want to see him leave, nor did he want to. He knew he would not be allowed to come back to the USA. If he ever makes it back against all odds I will ask him about these things in this thread.

7. Do we ever give China a freakin' break?
I grew up with the Chinese starving by the millions. Something like 20 t0 40 million in the late 1950s alone.

This is my shout out to the the Chinese - "You're doing a lot better, dudes. Keep it up."

Cripes, give people some credit once in a while.
