5. I fundamentally agree with his message, |
|
but he's gonna get beat up by the talking heads for changing his cadence. They will call it false enthusiasm and pandering, which I can't directly deny since his demeanor is so vastly different on this occasion. I'm just trying to keep it real. That's a different person than what I usually hear from Obama in other venues.

7. Black folks are known for the bilingialism..... |
|
That the only way a brother, who happens to be 1/2 Black and 1/2 White can keep it real. When one is preaching, one doesn't sound the same as when one is teaching, or when one giving a speech to inform on wonkish issue. To believe that one cannot modulate their speaking style is putting one in a box. Why do it? Why limit the many ways one can use to express oneself.

9. Yeah I get it. He a politician, and effective orator, but I can see the criticism coming a mile away |
|
The wingnuts (Limbaugh I mean) and all the racists (people that don't like the NAACP) are gonna go off.

15. I was writing something on the blog about this on Huffington Post.. |
|
I asked if anybody thought he was being a little bit patronizing to talk in slang terms and his mannerisms to be very different in front of a black crowd. Bill and Hillary Clinton would do the same shit and black people loved Clintons even though their policies didn't amount to much for African-Americans.

His demeanor was not really any different on this occasion than it was when he gave speeches during the campaign at many of his rallies. Obama always got the crowds 'fired up' when his cadence changed - he has toned it down a bit since taking office, but it is good to see the old familiar Obama that we saw so very often last year :)

16. I like it, very much. Though not as pronounced, changing tempo and tenor is a very common rhetorical |

8. This 52-year-old white lady loved that speech! |
|
After reading the first few comments, I was thinking "oh dear", but really the change in cadence was minimal, and totally appropriate for both the audience and the message. And the ending! Wow.

Shame about the audio. I hear distortion in my left ear, and nothing in my right ear!
Luckily, YouTube also has a better-quality video with stereo sound ripped from msnbc.
I already uploaded it here:www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x338514

It will truly be one of his most remembered, although many of his speeches will be remembered, as he is truly a gifted and wonderful leader and inspiring orator.
