Young Turks: Obama Birth Certificates are Real - SHUT UP ALREADY! |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-17-09 09:44 PM by Hissyspit
July 17, 2009. CENK: When you ask the representatives, the people in charge of these departments in Hawaii, they say 'I don't know how many different ways we can say it. We've looked at it a hundred times. Please stop bothering us. He was born here.'

8. It gave me a little entertainment at the mechanic this week |
|
I had a long wait and this lady that was born in Holland was talking about not being able to find her own birth certificate and "cleverly" segued to Pres. Obama and his... Then she went on about how she had never met anyone that voted for him, LOL! I informed her that she had now because I did. Then she got a little uncomfortable and asked if they were black ??> as if I had said that I had met someone that voted for him, not that I had. I told her that Obama's black but I'm not and I was the one that voted... Anyway, she got really uncomfortable then and shut up with the big talk just like they always do. It shocked her I think and maybe she felt like she got her hand smacked but it entertained me for a little of the wait. I took pity on her and shifted to asking about Holland and such.

Edited on Fri Jul-17-09 10:18 PM by wroberts189
It makes them look like fools to me.
It was DOA from the start and yet they continue to bang the drum. They are totally insane. You know "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result"
They are in for a big disappointment.
Sheesh ... I wish they had stayed with the teabags ..it was a waste but a good help to tea makers.

5. Deceased RNC Chairman Lee Atwater Said It Best |
|
"You start out in 1954 by saying, 'N*****, n*****, n*****.' By 1968 you can't say 'n*****'—that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is blacks get hurt worse than whites.
"And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me—because obviously sitting around saying, 'We want to cut this,' is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than 'N*****, n*****.'" _____________
What's going on here really isn't about whether President Obama is a citizen or not. It's about how he's not "one of us". It's about finding a properly coded, abstract way of saying "N*****, n*****." And the real brilliance here is that it also derails EVERY meaningful conversation about the issues. The fact is that the hardline GOP platform is stuck in the mid-20th century and you lose when you argue it on facts. Instead, when you respond to the issues with "Obama's not a citizen" or "Obama's a Muslim" or "Obama's a socialist" then suddenly you've reframed the argument to something so absurd that you can't really lose (which isn't to say you win, either), because you've already rejected the overwhelming body of facts, logic, and reality.

Do you have a link that attributes that quote to Lee Atwater?
It's shocking.

It's quoted in a New York Times op-ed here: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C04E6DF1E30F935A35753C1A9639C8B63And it comes from "Southern Politics in the 1990s" by Alexander P. Lamis. It might also be used in the documentary Boogie Man: The Lee Atwater Story (but I've never been able to find a copy.)

did the Turks or Factcheck.org explain that?, well, did they? ;)
I wish I knew some birthers (or at least knew where they hung out), it would be cheap weekend entertainment.

12. Seriously -- I wish they WOULD explain that |
|
there is no such thing as a SHORT FORM or a LONG FORM in the State of Hawaii. Since 2001, when the state went all electronic, there has been only one form which is produced from the electronic records and is called the "Certificate of Live Birth."

I hope they focus on this "issue" well after Obama has completed his second term. It just shows how batshit crazy guys like Hannity are.

10. This illustrates how gullible |
|
these people are. They also believe President Obama is a sort of deep cover Muslim out to destroy the nation. And how did the country end up electing a stealth Muslim? ACORN! Acorn used their vast bag of dirty tricks consisting of dead people voting and other diabolical measures. But, to achieve his ends, first President Obama must use stealth to end private gun ownership. Then the non-white people can properly abuse the white men, take their jobs, have sex with their women and other bad stuff.
I mean, many really do believe this in their heart. And they believe themselves to be super patriots.

17. Well, Sean Hannity wouldn't say if it weren't true! |
|
:sarcasm: Hang on, I'm being sarcastic. I would suggest we send a copy of the birth certificate to everyone in America, but FOX would then try to convince us that Hawaii's not really a U.S. state.
Just a thought, but maybe they could try working on something productive.

This needs to go viral just to put this nonsense to rest.
Of course, the birthers will probably have some other reason to say Obama is not eligible to be president. Why would I say such a thing? Because no right wing moron is happy unless he's telling lies about perceived liberal.
