Some people here dislike Maher's libertarian bent, but when it comes to finding and exposing our self-delusions, he's up there with the best of any contemporary comedian. I hope to find a text version of this piece somewhere, since I had to give up HBO.

7. True, but he's hardly a libertarian

he's often ranting and railing against the evils of deregulation which he blames largely for the collapse of the markets. but being in favor of total deregulation of everything is at the core of libertarian ideology, so Maher isn't anything like a libertarian.

8. I disagree with some of that

I don't think America is like Michael Jackson, just the part you see on TV. We still have a lot going for us as people, at least I have faith in us. But if what he says serves as a wakeup call to someone, more power to him. There's always room for improvement.

I can't keep up since he aired the pre-taped celebrity interviews. According to the HBO site, they're airing repeats, but this seems new to me.
