This is an excellent take on the recent revelation that the American Conservative Union sells off its 'principles' to the highest bidder. One could only hope that Norquist and his ilk drown themselves in a bathtub some fine day.

1. Great commentary.
It is an excellent example of the relationship between neocon leaders, and their followers. P.T. Barnum had them nailed decades ago. There is a sucker born every minute.

2. It's interesting how...
...when they feel duped (and some of them actually do figure it out), they go further in the wrong direction. On other sites I've read comments that Bush failed because he was "too liberal" or not a "true conservative". The suicidal quest for ideological purity going on in the GOP, along with the Palin cult, are further indicators of this. They have a form of political anopsia and can't recognize their own failings. Personally, I think a "true conservative" is a mythological creature, like a unicorn. You can spend your life searching for one, but you will never find it.

3. The Ronald Reagan unicorn.
It always comes back to Reagan. Sometimes Goldwater. Maybe Milton Friedman. Think of a three-headed beast, like a chimera, with the heads of Reagan, Goldwater, and Friedman. Actually don't...that's really damn scary now that I think about it.

4. I think Greenspan should be one of the heads.
Or maybe Russell Kirk. Let's make it the Lernaean Hydra so that we can put some more heads on it.

8. It is. Too bad it posted at 2am Saturday morning.
That pretty much killed the chances for the appropriate amount of views and recs.

5. The Conservative Position --
If there were a book of positions, the conservative one would be standing upright, with the hand out, and the back to the rest of the world. They're all about the money.
