5. Hillary was a Goldwater Republican . . .
Edited on Sun Jun-10-07 09:55 PM by defendandprotect
Bill Clinton also knocked out a lot of the New Deal -- 60 years of Welfare guarantees --

And, I read somewhere that some of the Democrats are talking about Social Security failing and the need for privatization -- ????

Believe that includes our Hillary --

Social Security is not failing -- and is highly viable -- in fact, the government has been borrowing like 100 BILLION dollars from it every year.

If all the money were returned to Social Security, it would be infinitely soluable.

And, as always, every once in a while it needs some "tinkering" -- like lifting the FICA limit to keep the more well-to-do in the pot.

7. Informed
I wish more people had a fraction of his grasp of the issues. Repubs are NEVER held to the fire regarding the definition of victory. That is something that I find very disheartening. Why does no one care?

8. It seems Ben thinks that Gore "lost" because he "ran away from Clinton"...
if Gore ran away from anything it was the DLC. Gore was his own man. He stood on his own, ran on his own and WON! Granted, Ben did say Gore "lost- sort of..."

other than that (and stupid Chris Matthew's bullshit questions) it was a nice interview. Thanks for posting it.

9. I watch this whole interview when it aired
Both my boyfriend and I could not believe the amount of airtime wasted on this guy. We thought he was a very poor spokesman for the left. He blah, blahed for most of it. He did not seem to have a message. He was not strong on progressive issues.

He should have gotten five minutes, max. There are way better people out there to speak for the left with more credibility and more savvy.

And no, I am not one of those "Al Franken types" who think celebrities should shut up. But I think Matthews gave him all that time because he wouldn't do too much damage to his Repub buddies. Let's hear from Tim Robbins, or Bono for 35 minutes.

10. No, you are correct in your assessment. I was not impressed at all.
And he's a lousy actor, too.

11. Can't see this because I'm at work
And I didn't see it when it aired.

I did see him on Real Time a little while ago and although I agreed with much of the substance of what he was saying I was really dismayed at his constant use of the word 'f*cking'. It was way overboard and gratuitious. After the 17th or so time, it was like 'Give it a rest ok, we know you feel strongly. Chill out a little'.

13. I think he put him on...
because he wants to portray all dems as liberals and hollywood types. We all know that the Dems represent more than one type. I don't see how these people who try to class everyone as the same get away with it,one way of course is to have Bob Shrum as a spokesperson. He doesn't speak for me.

12. "Deliberate and thoughtful will be a welcome change"

Understatement of the year.

But what is "somebody who's part of the old badlution"?
