5. 'they' used to issue tobacco..

my understanding of the 'scheming bastard chronicles' is that during WW2 the tobacco companies knew smoking was until then, mainly upper class activity, and intentionally made tobacco available to militaries so lower classes get hooked. In jails until about 20 years ago, tobacco was ISSUED to incoming prisoners; that or packs of gum! Today, smoking is socially unacceptable, so the scheming bastards use health costs etc to wage war on hapless users. People dying from cancer etc had to go outside hospitals for a cig! Now they must leave the property altogether, even if in wheelchair or on intravenous. It's pure bully boy stuff; but no one seems to notice. After all, lookit all the real crap 'they' are getting away with as is (see $2 plus trillion war in Iraq, $700 billion bank bailout etc, war on drugs, war on terror, war on street crime etc ) 'they' being the powers-that-be, who are the rich kids' rich kids' rich kids' rich kids who, generally, are well satisfied with status quo (and who smoke wherever they go, if desired, with armed bodyguards preventing complaints etc)
