STEELE: Look at what these guys are saying and doing, not at what we’re saying and doing. You got 60 votes in the Senate. You got almost a two-to-one majority in the House. The Democrats control the entire power structure of the federal government. If you want health care, get the votes. Do it!

HANNITY: Yes.

STEELE: I mean, Republicans can’t block the bill. The Republicans can’t even filibuster in the Senate.

3. I say we do the same thing with health care.
H.R. 676 is gaining traction. That's why we need to target our Dem's and get some real reform in regards to health care. That's what the majority of Americans wanted when polled last January.

The single payer bill is best for health care
The United States is the only industrialized country in the world without a universal/single-payer health care system. This is because a bloated health insurance industry that is far more concerned with their profit than our health controls Congress. The majority of Americans want single payer (New York Times/CBS poll January 2009, AP/Yahoo poll December 2007), including the majority of doctors and nurses. Do you think all these health professionals might know what they're talking about?

6. No doubt the same thing was said about women getting the vote
and ending segregation in the South. What if everyone who had fought for those causes had followed your line of thinking?

9. ye of little faith...
the same thing could have been said about Social Security, Medicare and numerous labor laws.
I have been involved in health care reform since the early 90's and will continue until I'm dead or we see actual reform.

I chose to feed and water an injured horse and help it regain it's health.
You on the other hand chose to give up and shoot it when it still has a pulse.

I'm not the only who thinks that horse still has a pulse.

7. A bluff - A scare tactic. Hoping some Dems will be frightened off & not support public option.
Edited on Thu Jul-23-09 11:57 AM by GreenTea
The last thing the republicans want to see government is the Democrats health care with a public option passed. Republicans also KNOW Dems passing health care for all would doom any hopes they have of gains in 2010.

That's why the republicans are in full blown fighting modem spending money like no tomorrow on TV & radio ads, they are lying through their teeth on every talk show & news show they can get on, the republicans are distorting facts & smearing people who disagree with them, the usual republican tactics only ten time worst and full-blown on this critical issue.

The insurance companies are spending tens of millions of dollars a week to defeat the Dems health care plan with a public option...it would means billions of dollars a year in less profit for those disgusting rip-off pigs.

This is a last ditch bluff by Steele, he knows the Dems know that the Democrats have the votes.

But Steele is trying to bluff and frighten the many spineless weak-kneed Democrats not to support their own Democrats health care plan because they'll be doomed.

Steele is pretending that if the Dems pass the health care plan with public option some Democratic members won't get re-elected...complete BULLSHIT!

Passage of health care with a public option will only help and enhance every Democrat to win re-election. If the Democrats do nothing like the republicans, then the Democrats are surely doomed!

ALL bluff by Steele - But, what spineless Dems will take Steele's bait?

8. OK, let's take him up on it
I don't care who votes for health care reform, as long as it passes and as long as it's meaningful reform with a public option.
