It's Time for an Exit Strategy from the "War on Drugs"
As more people become aware of the devastating consequences of the failed "war on drugs," it becomes apparent that we need to find a new way forward for actually controlling drugs. Many prominent citizens are now calling for the creation of a "Blue Ribbon Commission" to finally take a serious look at real solutions to our drug abuse and illegal drug market problems.

Indeed, Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) and several other senators have introduced bipartisan legislation to create a commission charged with conducting an 18-month, top-to-bottom review of the nation's entire criminal justice system and offering concrete recommendations for reform. When asked on CNN about legalizing drugs, Sen. Webb replied, “Nothing should be off the table.”

Please join us by signing the petition below. We will compile the names and present them to Senator Webb in support of his bill, S.714, the National Criminal Justice Comission Act. We will also forward the petition and its signatures to President Obama.

1. it is way past time to end the so-called 'war' on abstractions

all together. Drugs, Terror, whatever. Let's stop fighting shadows on the wall and restore our republic.

6. I totally agree, ixion and those "abstractions" inevitably translate

in to war being waged by the U.S. Government; against it's own citizens; either by killing or imprisoning them and destroying the American Peoples' family structures or shredding their Constitutional Rights one by one.

I believe turning what should be an educational, medical and or personal privacy issue in to a criminal one aka; "The War Against Drugs" to be an immoral, bordering on evil and totally illogical policy; which only serves to enrich criminal elements both in and out of government while feeding a growing threat to our democratic republic.

The very idea should be anathema to any nation singing songs about "Land of the free and home of the brave."

I am writing a research paper on the war on drugs and it's similarities to prohibition. Drugs and its abuse are medical problems, not criminal.
