My question is, how? As the saying goes, "when you have them by their balls, their hearts and minds will follow." It does appear that neoliberalism does indeed have pretty much the whole world by the balls.
The ability to actually challenge very powerful and deeply now entrenched moneyed interest without exacerbating the situation and making matters far, far worse for the vast majority of ordinary people appears to be extremely limited. As economic structures currently actually work, failure to comply will trigger even greater financial crisis thus triggering even greater and very real suffering. This is the current reality.
Anyway, I have ordered his book and hope to gain some further insight:
