3. I've come to the conclusion after watching all five Money is Debt video's
Edited on Sun Jul-26-09 01:37 PM by Uncle Joe
posted by ORDagnabbit's on the thread posted below, that the banksters are also behind stalling or killing the possibility of single payer universal health coverage. They certainly have the motivation for doing so.

I figure it this way, how do you take the American Peoples' greatest single financial asset/investment; their homes, while also keeping the American People addicted to debt; which in turn is required to support our current dysfunctional monetary system of allowing the banks to print their own money out of more debt?

The baby boomers; in general reaching their "golden years" should be approaching debt free status with their homes being paid off, this isn't good for banks. So by escalating medical costs to astronomical proportions, the people become rein-slaved to debt which in turn feed the banks addiction to printing their own money; basically out of thin air, without regard to the consequences.

Our current banking system is a massive one way Ponzi Scheme and I believe the total disregard for even considering universal single payer health care is intricately tied to that addiction.

In short it isn't just the for profit "health" insurance corporations and big Pharma against serious health care reform, I'm convinced the major investments banks; which have screwed the American People out of their tax dollars are as well.

I highly recommend watching all five videos of Money is Debt.

4. I listened to the podcast and Moyers himself asked what exactly was in the proposed
health care plan. That is a good question and it would be easier to defend something that is concrete.

9. THIS IS WELL WORTH WATCHING
CHECK OUT THE PROGRAM IN ITS ENTIRETY ON MICHAEL MOORE'S WEB PAGE.

FOR WHAT'S WORTH, I'LL TRY TO SUMMARIZE THE MAIN POINTS:

1. NO ONE REALLY KNOWS WHAT THE OBAMA PLAN IS - IT'S DELIBERATELY VAGUE - ABOUT 1,000 PAGES
2. ONE PROVISION THAT THAT THE OBAMA PLAN IS CERTAIN TO CONTAIN IS MANDATORY COVERAGE - A REQUIREMENT FOR EVERYONE (I.E., EVEN THE UNEMPLOYED) TO HAVE A HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM
3. THE MANDATORY COVERAGE WOULD BE A WINDFALL FOR PRIVATE INSURANCE AND THE PHARMACEUTICALS WHO WOULD ESSENTIALLY UNDER THE OBAMA PLAN BE UNREGULATED
4. OBAMA'S PLAN IS VIRTUALLY POURING GOOD MONEY AFTER BAD BECAUSE HE'S ESSENTIALLY TREATING A SYMPTOM AND NOT A CURE - FIXING THE EXISTING SYSTEM BY GIVING IT MORE MONEY
5. SINGLE PAYER IS THE ONLY CURE FOR THE ESCALATING COSTS + UNINSURED + ADEQUATE CARE - HR 676 WASN'T MENTIONED - I DON'T THINK THERE IS A CHANCE THAT IT WILL PASS DUE TO THE TREMENDOUS FUNDING FROM THE INSURANCE/PHARMA LOBBYISTS
6. IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST, IT WOULD JUST BE BETTER TO SCRAP THE EXISTING OBAMA PLAN - ONE SUGGESTION FOR THOSE WHO WANT TRUE REFORM IS A TRANSITION - WHEREBY INSURANCE INDUSTRY COULD TRANSFER ITS FUNCTION TO OTHER CRISES (HURRICANES, FLOOD, ETC.) AND SINGLE PAYER COULD GRADUALLY BE PHASED IN

10. The insurance companies are pushing hard for this bill
and its modeled after the failed plan they use in Massachusetts.
this bill sounds like really bad news. Universal Medicare is the only viable solution.
