Good lord, I have no idea what kinda stuff she smoked before that word-barf today.

7. She has a point when saying that some media makes things up. |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-26-09 07:16 PM by RandomThoughts
But connecting it to the troops is a bit of a whistle to her base. Everyone supports the troops, and the issue of media as the 4th estate to protect democracy is not what the troops have always fought to protect.
There are many in the media that believe in freedom and honesty, but many of them are also aristocrats that believe the people are not smart enough to rule themselves, and they see disinformation as codling the masses while so called better people make the real decisions.
Keep them wrapped up in their simple thought lives of celebrity, and keep them docile, is not for the reason of deception as much as a perceived betterness from those that like that agenda. And that perception, attached to the privilege of having some control, leads to deception hidden behind other false reasons.
It is not just that they make things up, it is that they think it is good for society to make things up.
Again that is only some people in media, but again it is how those types see themselves compared to how they evaluate the rest of society. And if people travel in the same bubbles it can reinforce those things.

48. That's way above what she meant |
|
She is so lost in her own fairy tale that what she is actually calling for is for the MSM to stop reporting the truth....if it makes her look bad. If it makes her look bad then it is "makin' stuff up". I'm sure she is all for FAUX News and their pampering her and slamming of the other networks that dare to report on the endless embarrassing moments she cannot help to have on a daily basis.
In her twisted mind THE TROOPS are out there fightin' for her personal reputation. Because she is always right, truth is on her side, and so anyone writing an unfavorable story about her is attacking the truth, and thus is against THE TROOPS.

Not a good place to be in. I agree her statement and mine were not the same. But most of us have disagreements with some of the MSM, so I found it interesting that she used that comment, and how different it is from my thoughts on the topic.

That makes sense, your logic makes a good example of those that claim to be righteous, or true, with complete certainty. It is many times from a more shallow place of thinking.

13. Your right, its about creating perspective from picking one story and not another. |
|
And then how the narrative is told.
In Iran the media state owned media did not cover protests that much.
In Honduras when their was an coup, they took over media and used that for their reasons.
And in America if their is a movement that might hurt a sector, and that sector has some media influence, then some in the media will do the same thing and not cover events.
The story of the CEO outing the health care industry should be a big story (assuming his story is credible, which it sounds like it is) Then that story should be told instead of more MJ reruns.
There is a duty to educating the populace, that goes against the drive for profit. Another reasons systems only dedicated to profit fail, they get dumber and dumber over time. Just like there is no profit in having a school, their is less profit for having good content on the news.
There should be a public channel right in the same dial set as the 24 hour news stations. So people can see the 24 hour news from a non private perspective also.
PBS 24 hours news channel, with Frontline journalism, and telling stories with historical context and interviews of people in the process, not just commenting on it. That would be great. Right next to CNN and MSNBC and FOX, with ads paid to show on CNN and MSNBC and FOX.
Opening line of advertisement, "yes this add was paid for by taxes, but at least you get to hear whats going on from another perspective because of it."
Or pass a community service law for network TV where they have to run the add for free. If some news outlets can run at a loss for propaganda reasons, then they should not mind a little more loss. Besides if a media outlet runs at a loss, it is not an argument nor is it anything to do with capitalism, it is propaganda and control, so why not have a PBS 24 hour news station running at a loss(tax paid) reporting for the people.
Instead of worrying about corporations trying to move into the Internet. We should, while keeping Internet free, have society move back into TV

25. Who Needs to Make Up Stuff |
|
When a person who is so utterly incompetent is thrust upon the national stage as a potential leader the press has a "free speech" duty to inform the public. They barely did that with Ms. Palin during the last election. In fact, Ms. Palin made it clear, with no help at all, that she is a lightweight and ignorant of the world. Her interviews with the fawning MSM displayed a person who is so shallow and so uninformed that no one needed to do "gotcha journalism" or "hit pieces" on her. She did that herself.
If one cannot handle the softball question "What do you read?" Then one should not be running for the Vice President of the United States. Really, come on. When "What do you read?" is answered by a blank look and stammering how can you take a person seriously? You could at least say the name of your local paper or any book on Oprah's book club. That would be better than the nothing answer Sarah Palin gave.

Whinners are losers. Things are not everybody else's fault. Step up and take responsibility for once.
Now that Sarah Palin has no portfolio, who will want to listen to somebody that served only 2 1/2 years as Governor and before that Mayor of a town will less then 10,000 residents. That is about like a one-term Congressman. As a small fish in a big pond, Palin will be lost. Let her whine away.

A whinier drama queen bitch?
She sounds like Reese Witherspoon in "Election" and her voice is worse than fingernails on a chalkboard.
The melodrama, the hysterics...
Now that's she's thrown in the towel (expecting she can now manipulate the media full-time), wouldn't it really be funny if they actually started treating her as irrelevant by just completely ignoring her from here on out?
No news conference coverage, no interviews, no newspaper articles about the latest Sarah Palin non-story...
The next time I want to hear about Sarah Palin, is when she does a spread for Playboy desperately trying to remind people she was once a celebutard politician.
I'm just sayin'...
