2. Well its a little more then that.
Christians are not better people as far as sin goes compared to people of other religions or atheist. However many Christians can find guidance in ways to better live in the teachings of Jesus Christ. And many Christians ignore many teachings that are uncomfortable and pick the ones that let them feel better about themselves. I probably do that also, just to be fair, its really common thing to do.

I personally can't say if someone is a Christian or not, that is in their heart and ultimately will be up for God to decide. But I think some people with many challenges do the best they can, and just have it a little harder on making some decisions.

There is also ways that people can act with total love, while not acting in love. It depends on their empathy circle, they might do something for someone they love, out of love, and that action hurts someone else they did not stop to think about. I think that is why Jesus tried to teach us to love even strangers and people we have a tendency to think less of.

However I agree many people get a mind set about a few issues and ignore the general themes of love not hate, forgiveness, not being judgemental, and non materialism spoken of in the Bible.
