50 minute video.

Captain Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society was the key note speaker at the 2009 Animal Rights Conference in Los Angeles.

Paul Watson has exhibited much diversity in his activism. Aside from being a co-founder of Greenpeace in 1972 and Greenpeace International in 1979 and founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in 1977, Paul was a Field Correspondent for Defenders of Wildlife between 1976 and 1980. He was a field rep for the Fund for Animals between 1978 and 1981. He co-founded Friends of the Wolf in 1984 and the Earthforce Environmental Society in 1977. Paul has received many awards and commendations over the years and has commanded over 200 voyages and 7 different Sea Shepherd ships in his campaigns to protect whales and other marine animals around the world.

He has a series on Animal Planet, Whale Wars, Fridays at 9 pm which documents his ship and crew traveling to Antarctica in December 2008 to stop Japanese Whalers from killing 1000 whales. They chased the Japanese Whalers through ice fields and fog and saved hundreds of whales.

1. Paul's the Man!
I contribute to the Sea Shepherd Society regularly, and so should you and everybody else here! Fuck Greenpeace, Hunter booted him because Paul would not downscale Greenpeace to an information only society, and rake in big bucks for doing nothing. Paul wanted to take more drastic measures, like he is doing now, to help wildlife. Greenpeace was started in Vancouver B.C. Canada as a group to deal with logging, whaling and fisheries in Canada, specifically in BC. It was so successful that it took off, next to the US, and then world wide. If you care about the stuff he does, pass the word.. GREENPEACE DOES NOTHING to help the world but take your money and pull ineffective stunts like they did at Rushmore, unfurling a stupid banner!

2. right
but I don't think Hunter booted him. I think the Greenpeace group actually voted Hunter out as President, and someone else made an issue about Watson taking a club out of a sealer's hand. Bob Hunter went on missions with Sea Shepherd.

this is a video on Hunter and Watson on a voyage to stop illegal net fishing by Japanese

3. Hmm.. could be
But, is any case, I saw an interview of Watson a few years back about it, he did have a falling out with somebody, and maybe it wasn't Hunter, but yes, the group got power hungry the way Paul said it, and gave him the boot. I know he had some hard feelings against somebody, maybe Pat Moore? I digress that somebody saw the group as a big money item and hijacked it from the founders. Nevertheless, I see Greenpeace as ineffective, and I have given The Shepherds some ideas, money, and hope to join the next voyage as crew to the southern ocean. I almost went this year, but missed the boat. Whale Wars has done way more for whales than anything I have seen before, and it's working. I just wish Greenpeace would cut the crap and join Paul in his efforts, but they don't even support him with intelligence and communication, so until they change their tactics to something a bit more effective, then fuck em.
