Summary: Ana and Jayar explain how horrible vandals are pushing Smart Cars into lakes and other bodies of water. Cenk was off Tuesday which is why he's not in this clip. Oh, and Jayar got pretty fired up and used some adult language, so ear-muff the kids.

I freely admit that I'm rapidly becoming a crusty old bastard, but "Buffy's" view of international events doesn't really interest me...especially in light of that fact that she can't seem to actually form a coherent sentence without stuttering.

1)-You've said in the past that you (quote) "hate" Cenk. Why do you still watch TYT clips? But to be fair, maybe you meant "love" when you wrote "hate".

2)-Ana is in the current events/entertainment hour of the show, the third hour. The mood is more relaxed as are the topics.

I freely concede that I was drawn in by the "SmartCar" reference.


But is this really the standard of "journalism" that's acceptable these days? It's like "Wayne's World Does Politics".

5. 2 more things

1)-This is from the third hour of the show. The third hour is fun/wacky stories. Think of the last segment on Countdown or Rachel's 'just enough' pop culture and you'll get the idea.

2)-They aren't journalists and they never claim to be. Still, they generally do a damn good job of providing news and commentary, certainly better than what you'll see on the vast majority of the MSM. In fact, they created TYT Interviews to post the longer, more substantive segments that they rarely posted before on the main YouTube channel.

People just aren't as interested in watching a detailed discussion on the financial crisis with Cenk and Matt Taibi compared to a quick 3 minute rant (or whatever). If people think TYT is all about 3 minute rants and entertainment type clips, it's clear they've never watched/listened to the main 2 hour show, and they (understandably) aren't aware of the new TYT Interviews channel.

I have a decided bias against TYT's presentation style.

Despite that, I made the decision to post in this thread.

It's a stylistic difference of opinion. I think it's really stupid, but I really have no business criticizing it in this thread.

To each his own. For example, I think Thom Hartmann is THE most informed talk show host on the planet, and his show is overflowing with substance and great information. Still, I know quite a few people who are bored to tears by him.

I love it, but I see why some people don't.

This video already seems to be close to the number of the views the much longer and more substantive interview I posted with The Nation's Katrina Vanden Heuvel has (see link #3 in the OP). Often times the more detailed, substantive clips get the least attention.

I do have a few points to make:

Point #3: I disagree on your characterization of the lovely and talented Ana as not being able to form a coherent sentence or as a "Buffy". She is definitely not an airhead by any stretch of the imagination. I find her commentary very interesting and enjoy listening to her. When she is on with Cenk, I think that they do make a great team and offer a nice balance. When she is on by herself, I have never watched her and left with the impression that she is spacey or didn't have good insight.

I am just curious, though... Was there something about the way that she covered the "Smart cars being thrown into a lake" story that you found to be unprofessional? It is a pretty lighthearted story to beging with. Were you thinking..... "Wow, if I was covering this story, I would have done it so much differently!"?
