If you care about the troops you should watch this video and share with others. This should be on all the News shows. I began protesting the war on Afghanistan because I knew this would happen, and continued protesting especially when Bush wanted to go to war with another "axis of evil"..
Of course I was protesting the killing of innocent lives, of course I was protesting the death and injuries of our troops.. but as I stood on the corner protesting, with hateful people yelling at us and flipping us off.. I knew we would have troops with severe head injuries and with severe PTSD.
It is painful to listen to these reports but we must and we must forward to our Legislatures and say NO MORE. and to take care of our troops when they come home.

this was on Democracy Now yesterday. Here is the link for that show. It is on DISH Network ch. 9415 and on many cable channels and radio. If you don't watch/listen to it, than you aren't really informed.

*** A startling two-part series published in the Gazette newspaper of Colorado Springs titled “Casualties of War” examines a part of war seldom discussed by the media or government officials: the difficulty of returning to civilian life after being trained to be a killer. The story focuses on a single battalion based at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment. Soldiers from the brigade have have been involved in brawls, beatings, rapes, drunk driving, drug deals, domestic violence, shootings, stabbings, kidnapping and suicides. The Army unit’s murder rate is 114 times the rate for Colorado Springs. We speak with the reporter who broke the story and get the Army’s response. ***

1. This is so sad....but what would you expect?
Few, if any chicken hawks would realize what this sort of war does to the mind of a human being. I was a grunt in Vietnam. I saw it there, and when you come home, life will never be the same. When we compared Iraq to Vietnam, the right wing neocons would shut us up by saying it is TOTALLY DIFFERENT! That's utter bull shit.

We are going to be paying for this war long after it is over. Yes, some of these men and women were involved in crime before they were deployed, but NONE of them were involved in cold blooded murder.

Now we have what Janet Politano predicted....returning military who are lethal to our society...be it in right wing extremist groups or just as a ticking time bomb to the innocents on this side of the Atlantic.

Thank you george bush, you pathetic sack of shit. You chicken hawk, soulless fool. You and your master, prick cheney are responsible for this hell you have created on earth. Fools. Pathetic damned fools.

3. I worked a suicide a few weeks back
Fellow had PTSD, was never the same after he came back. Shot himself in the head while his parents looked on. That was a tough one.

4. I am so sorry, that is horrific
I worked at a psych hospital over a decade ago. Even in there they can attempt and at times committ suicide. I is so painful for all. I wish we could have stopped these horrible wars/occupations.
We are going to lose so many and they are going to take so many with them in the years to come.

5. Thank you
I agree, I am afraid we are going to see a lot more of this. I live in a city near a military base where a lot of soldiers take up residence. Let alone the suicide, I've seen a lot of vets "freak out." Usually triggered by personal issues, they end up in a psych eval for 3 days until they calm down. It's heart breaking and fuels me with anger when I see these poor broken people. I just hope they don't decide to go active shooter, that's the stuff that keeps me up at night.

6. 3 days is not enough.
Did you see Sen Franken is calling for service dogs for Vets.. especially those who just came back with physical injuries and also those with PTSD ? See if your senator will sign on. I hope it passes.

Also see if there are Vets for Peace near by and can have some regular get together. Their peer to peer support can really help when the VA system isn't helping.

I don't think National Guard members get to use the VA.. Many of these guys need help with the chemical imbalance.. many have depleted seratonin due to high levels of constant adrenalin

Many need psych drugs fast. I wonder if St. John Wort or 5-HTP can help with the anxiety attacks ?
