Not a lot of 2nd jobs available in MO. Or anywhere, for that matter.

Do not understand the urgency for those who don't have. They don't have the jobs to enable them to have healthcare. They don't earn the money that would allow them to pay for private health coverage. They don't always have the health to find insurance that is willing to cover them. It' s a sad merry-go-round of pre existing conditions, worrying about getting coverage, worrying about keeping coverage and trying to scrape up enough to pay for meds. If we could only force them to walk in our shoes to see for themselves the tightrope that so many are tethered to on a daily basis,to see and get refusals for procedures,meds--just getting to see a doctor perhaps they would understand where we are coming from.

9. We need universal heath care. |
|
My 2 cents worth. We need universal health care for the poor and working poor. We don't need a top down massive government dictated health care system. I strongly believe that only Democratic party can deliver on this. The Republicans are tied too close to the pharmaceutical companies. However, I think it's time the Democrats ween themselves from the lawyers nd institute tort reform.

10. Basic health care is a right, not a privilege. But....this video doesn't get the pt. across |
|
well enough.
It's maybe a tad too sentimental, and doesn't contain enough facts.
People who are against healthcare for all would ask themselves, after the man says he can't afford healthcare for himself and his two kids, why not? They would wonder...does he work? What does he do? Has he tried to get a job that provides health care?
Now, I don't believe that people HAVE to get a job that provides health care, or they shouldn't have to, I should say.
But for a video to be effective about the subject, it needs to show that the person who is saying he doesn't have something needs to explain all the things he has done to try to get that himself. He should say he has worked all his adult life, he is currently working as a farmhand (or whatever he's doing), that there aren't many other types of work in his area for unskilled laborers, etc.
Now, you and I know that no explanation and no facts will satisfy those that are deadset against health care for all, but there are those who are on the fence.
As for myself, I don't need to be convinced. It's shocking that any of us have to choose a particular job just to get pills for a child. It's shocking that the working poor don't have basic rights to basic health care. (The really poor have free health care; it's the working poor and lower paid middle class who fall thru the cracks and can't get health care.)
