5. I can imagine
how it must have been for these two women, after all they'd been through, to walk into a room with probably the worst of fears, and see President Clinton standing there. It is like something right out of a movie.

I love happy endings. And after 8 long years we're beginning to see them once again.

7. What a wonderful thing to see...
Who'd a thunk that America could get results with diplomacy and reason?

...and I have to say it is SOOO good to se Bill & Al standing next to eachother once again...I still LOVE those two!

*sigh*
I see a glimpse of what things can look like without chimpy posturing and darth cheny reveling in death & destruction...

With Bill, Hillary, Al and others of like mind on his "team"...our President has a real chance to eventually make his vision of peace a reality.
(now, can we just bring our troops home?)

9. It's events like this
that make me a Democrat.
I can't imagine any heartless hateful Republican giving one whit about fellow citizens if they couldn't make a profit on it.

We truly live in a nation FILLED with fucktards and morons beyond words. God help us all!

13. This is such a wonderful event. I'm so grateful to everyone who
kept this mission alive. Power can be used to do some very loving things. Good job President Obama, President Clinton, Vice President Gore, and all the secret service, and many other important people. Let's see more of this.

14. Transcript.
Linda Ling: Thirty hours ago Euna and I were prisoners in N. Korea. We feared that at any moment, we could be sent ot a hard labor camp. And then suddenly we were told we were going ot a meeting. *deep breathe* We were taken to a location... and when we walked through the doors, we saw standing before us President Bill Clinton. *applause* We were shocked, but we knew instantly in our hearts that the nightmare of our lives was finally coming to an end. And now we're home, and free.

Euan and I would just like to express our deepest gratitude to President Clinton, and his wonderful, amazing, not to mention his amazing super cool team....and the United States secret service, who traveled halfway around the world and then some to secure our release. We'd also like ot thank President Obama, SoS Clinton, VP Gore who we also call Al. *Gore laughs warmly* The swedish ambassador Mox Foyer, Curt Tom, Linda McFadden, and the people of the US State Department who worked so hard for the release of their fellow Americans. Steve Bing and his crew and Andrew Libras and the Tao company. And I know I am forgetting a group of instrumental people right now, forgive me if I'm incoherent. To our loved ones, friends, colleagues, and to complete strangers with the kindness of hearts, showed us so much love and sent us so much positive thoughts and energy, we thank you. We could feel your love all the way in N. Korea, it is what kept us going in the darkest of hours. It is what sustained our faith that we would come home. The past 140 days have been the most difficult, heart wrenching times of our lives. We are very grateful that we were granted amnesty by the government of N. Korea, and we are so happy to be home. And we are so anxious right now, to be able to spend some quiet, private time getting reacquainted with our families. THank you so much.

15. So is this also being aired on Current TV too?
Edited on Thu Aug-06-09 02:33 AM by cascadiance
I still have an old video clip I'd burned from there a while back from Laura Ling way before this happened, when she was also taking big risks working inside Burma as well. Working for Current TV is probably another reason she calls Al Gore "Al"! :)

My hats off to these ladies' incredible courage and stamina to get through these times! I hope they can continue their careers with Current TV, but could completely understand if they wanted to use this time to make some significant changes in their life paths!

19. is it wrong to want to be kidnapped by another country
just so I can have Bill Clinton come save me? I cannot imagine what it must have been like to see President Clinton standing there...I probably would have run over, collapsed on the ground and held his leg and refuse to let go.

The part where Laura Ling said - we knew in our hearts the nightmare was going to end.. that was so amazing

Can you imagine if they had walked in and saw Bush or Cheney there.. then it would be - we instantly thought "oh shit we are so fucked"
