11. Suggestion.
If it is true that political laws have been violated by elected officials and nominating party(RNC). Then there is no amount of information that the other party might get that will be able to rectify to right the situation in time for the next election cycle. In this case, the best remedy would to be to bar the party (the RNC) from taking part in the next election cycle. Or give the Other parties special rights that give them advantage in the next contest.

4. 5 MILLION whitehouse.gov emails missing too!
Why doesn't anyone talk about this violation of the Presidential Records Act?

These emails are missing from their own servers!

14. Here's some background from CREW
Citizens for responsibility and ethics in Washington (CREW) issued a report called "Without a Trace" in April. In the press release, they mention ~ 5 million emails missing from the WHITEHOUSE.GOV domain. 2 of the three PRA violations listed in CREW's report are for these missing emails, not the ones missing from the RNC domain.

Press Release:
http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/27607

Fact Sheet (good explanation of RNC vs WHITEHOUSE.GOV scandal):
http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/27659

Sorry for skipping the details before.

8. The WH criminal enterprise is as out of control as Iraq.
You just can't keep up with any of the crimes they commit, just like you can't stop the killing in Iraq.

I don't know how this country can make it to the end of the Bush disaster, or how it can recover.

Or does Rove really think the Dems and the American People are the enemy and there's no holds barred in what he can do to protect Bush?

15. Criminals and thugs thumbing their noses and shooting the fingers at the American public
...Al Gonzales allowed this to happen by not taking any action to ensure that electronic records would be preserved so the prosecution should begin with him. Arrest the bastard and put him on trial. Follow that with KKKarl rove and just go through all White House staff who had anything to do with this. Crimes have been committed lets lets start arresting!

18. come on DU hackers
where have you been.

why doesn't DU house the archive of these missing RNC emails?

i mean it can't be that hard to UNDELETE these damn emails, any highschool drop out can hack that far into the servers and undelete the emails.

i wanna know who has them and which blogger is going to break the story of who has the emails.

i'm pretty sure there is some RNC geek that can be bought for an upgraded PC...

let's get busy guys. do some homework. we are THIS CLOSE TO TAKING DOWN THE WHOLE house of cards, and this group is the technical group to do it.

according to the open records act, those records BELONG TO ME THE CITIZEN,so i can request the open records and then sue the white house when they can't comply.

citizens have power here, let's use it...

19. Interesting news-piece & threads of response...
... however, I wish to be a stick in the mud here:

Pre-email era, these laws were written. At that time business was conducted via phone & written letter. The laws are thus regarding voice & phone - no unauthorized wiretap or recording are to be made; thus the laws discussed regarding "record retention" apply to written material.

Today's email era - much of the email replaces voice, but is also written; so how does the law exactly apply? And with the Freedom of Information Act, does everyone have legal access to everything? Many HR & Legal person in government wish to eliminate IS/IT period because of these concerns. I do not believe these issues have played their natural course in the Judicial system.

Ironically, one of the Federal Circuit Courts was to address privacy and this very issue on Sept 11, 2001 having been victims themselves to email snooping. With the attacks in NY, the case was never addressed and the Patriot Act changed everything. But in time of war, national secrets and secrecy abound with self declared Presidential War Powers to do anything, until the courts rule otherwise.

The issue here is very complicated but the Bush administration via the Patriot Act opened the flood gates regarding voice recordings (remember the Cold War USSR taping everything) and now we do it too. They have trapped themselves between a rock and a hard place. Even if nothing happens legally, politically we can show their misdeeds and win votes here. Regardless of this issue, the Iraq conflict is sinking their ship anyway. Let's just hope there are no political survivors to damage our future.

Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 10:03 PM by wordpix
their entire BushCo operation will survive at least to the extent they won't get punished and will make off with their riches, whethber they're now in government, with Big Oil or Big Development.
