As I always say it's really the CONSERVATIVES who are causing the abortions in this country. This is just one more example of that.

1. Excellent argument to use with the "pro-life" crowd
(although it's impossible to be truly "pro-life" and against health care)

Might give them reason to pause, though

2. Abortion is a symptom of Economic Oppression.
I know some people LIKE to think that others have abortions because they enjoy them, but for many women, especially those already supporting children, it's the economics of pregnancy, birth, and caring for children that drives the decision to abort.

We live in a dog-eat-dog culture; that's what causes abortion.

4. I've been saying that for years, but I get called an "intellectual" and, ergo, ir-relevant.
It's the same old problem no matter the issue; Republicans forcibly DEMAND that others do things such as:
Warp their entire life trajectory (and possibly that of at least a few dependent children) by having another baby, or
Live their entire lives without Love, or
Conform their understandings of all things to a certain set of words in something called The Bible, or . . .

i.e. Republicans DEMAND BIG changes from other people, "for the Good", and yet will not make small changes in themselves "for the Good". Small things like:
Don't gossip about others (Races, creeds, economic classes) because it alienates people from one another and, hence, from the support we can give to one another, or
Take $5.00 out of your regular grocery budget and give it to someone who needs is, or
Give your GOOD clothing to the poor, rather than taking it to consignment shops, or
Spend 2 hours a month REALLY caring for someone DIFFERENT from you and your belief system, or . . . .

I'm sure there are many more of these small things that if millions of people were doing them, instead of consuming "cake and circuses", would reduce the conditions that other people are too disadvantaged to fight, which IS what causes abortions.

The problem with Republicans is that they see Responsibility as all being about OTHER people who, no matter how disadvantaged, no matter how far far far behind the curve they are, are supposed to make huge profound leaps of changes in themselves and their lives, while they, the Republicans, REFUSE to make the smallest little steps toward changes in themselves so that it might be just a smidgen easier for someone else to get by.

BTW, that's the way the RC Church USED to teach it.

...................

We truly live in a dog-eat-dog War Slavery culture that makes a Woman's Right to Choose a service to Freedom.
