The Republican could not be consistant, claiming first that President Obama was trying to indoctrinate the students in liberal thought. Then he said he objected to the government sending out an accompanying lesson plan that encouraged kids to write letters to the President (oh please, I remember Presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter all doing the same thing when I was in school), and then it was all about the Obama "cult of personality."

Well, Anderson Cooper let him have it (I'm paraphrasing here): "Why didn't you complain when President Bush went to address schools?"

"If the President clearly has no intent to say anything political in the speech, then why are you still objecting?"

Roland Martin was all over this guy, knocking him on the mat over the fact that every President addresses school children at least once, and he never complained about President Bush. Martin just kept on him, saying that it was politics, and the only reason he was doing this was because he was a Republican.

The Republican said it was parental choice, but really, that sort of came as a whimper.

And Roland had at him one last time - in fact, his stinging rebuke of "politics" not "parental choice" was ringing in my ears as they went to a break.

Honestly, it was a great moment for real journalism, something that has been sorely lacking on straight news broadcasts for sometime. I'm just sorry it will be lost in all the sensational coverage of other stories this evening.

21. Greer had *NO* interest in facts. Same as all rabid republicans
My god we have such psychotic people in this country. So full of deceit and ill intention willing to play on people's fears for whatever gain they seek. Greer doesn't give one god-damn wit about parents and their children. He cares about power and money, end of story. Anderson and Martin made it abundantly clear that Greer was wrong but it didn't matter to him. He doesn't hear what is said to him. While others talk he's got a dialog in his head that just keeps going and going and going. All he cared about was that he had the time to say what he wanted to say. It's no different than any other fucked-in-the-head republican.

People, we have got to stop giving these psychos the time to spew their bullshit. How long do we continue to listen to liars and give the benefit of the doubt to cheaters and swindlers! Turn them off. They don't care what we have to say. We need to turn our attention instead to those we know who are speaking up for the truth and for what is right. Give your ears to them, not this right-wing bullshit nonsense. Give your time to discuss and debate with those willing to be honest. Persuade those with an opening but people like Greer will only feed on your attention and the contention so why bother to say anything to them. Treat them like the scum they are.

They don't care if you agree or not. They only want your attention because they feed off of it. If you don't give them that and simply treat them for what you know they are - liars - they will get mad. And if they don't get the attention they are craving, they just may start screaming like we've never heard before. But that will only be the beginning of the end of them.

I'm so sick of television. Especially the news shows that give these assholes just more time to spew their garbage. That may be reprehensible in itself, but what does that say about those who turn it on day after day to listen to it.

3. Right-wingers are always afraid of things that haven't happened - and won't.
When we protested bush, it was because of things he actually did. He invaded Iraq for no reason. He took away our freedoms with the Patriot Act. He exposed a secret CIA agent in retribution for the exposure of their lies. He de-regulated financial businesses, bringing on a global economic collapse. And so on. These were all things that actually occurred, and we protested them after they occurred.

Compare this with the right's virulent Obama-hatred, which is driven almost entirely by their paranoid fantasies of the very worst things they can imagine him doing at some point in the future. "He's going to take all our guns." "He's going to put conservatives in concentration camps." "He's going to kill our grandparents and children with health-care reform." And now, "he's going to indoctrinate all of our children into Communism in a 15-minute speech."

These outlandish fears are based not on reality (obviously), but on the rantings of paranoid lunatics like Glenn Beck and professional rabble-rousers like Rush Limbaugh. I mean, my God. If I believed everything these gasbags spew, I'd be terrified too! For some reason, extreme conservatives have become clinically psychotic - disconnected from objective reality. They live in a world of lies, fear, rage, and hate. I'm so glad I'm not one of them.

these are typical Repuke tactics, and as usual, they are politicizing EVERYTHING because the president is BLACK.

5. Ya never know
Obama might start telling those kids to support anarchy and grow their hair long, and watch Teletubbies...

In fact, go ahead and count on that being his topic.

Need I say ... :sarcasm: ?

12. I'm thinking about that because my
father mentioned the similarities between Glenn Beck and Jerry Falwell. Falwell sees gays, Beck sees communists - both when looking at things the rest of see as nothing of the sort.

8. The Republicans are solely about hatred.
They digest a steady stream of the most virulent lies hour after hour by FOX and the ultra-crazy radio propagandists. Republicans are nothing more than racist bastards and hate President Obama because he is an African-American. This is what drives their insane attacks. I especially despise Uncle Toms that do the bidding of their White masters like some dog licking his master's hand.
