My 95 year old mother is worried that President Obama is going to be discouraged with the attacks being waged by the ridiculous right on himself, his wife and his family as a whole. I assured her that he KNEW what he was getting into when he applied for this job. That is little comfort when reality hits, and you begin to see just how low the right can sink.
I want you to keep the faith, President Obama. We are a nation of morons, where we are even so stupid as to glorify being stupid and lazy. We are still infected with bigotry and petty hatred because you aren't the same as somebody else. That's how base we can be.
But those of us that have a bit more intelligence and understanding realize that you inherited governing a nation that was raped and abused since the days of ronnie, and especially these past eight years with the idiot and the spawn of Satan in power. It's going to take a TON OF COURAGE and perseverance to make change in this country. There has never been a time when we have needed a hero more, but WE have to be part of that effort. You can't do it alone.
You are a good man, and an honest man; and I know you are out to do whatever is possible for this nation. We have lost our luster. We have been disgraced by the actions of the greedy and malicious. Now it is time to turn the ship around and gain back some of what we have lost. We have never needed YOU more!

2. Hopefully our wise young President will soon remember his friends |
|
Perhaps then he will learn the value of working with the team, the team who gave him the job of leader. If he doesn't, soon, your mothers fears may be well founded.

3. Totally irrelevant speech. Totally irrelevant idea. |
|
People are still losing their homes and jobs in huge numbers. A decline in the percentages is somewhat encouraging but it does nothing to help people save. As for requiring people to opt out of retirement accounts. That is a great idea, but irrelevant for people who are worried about losing or getting jobs now. This speech was inappropriate for Labor Day.
Obama should have talked about increasing jobs programs on Labor Day. He should have used this opportunity to announce a deferred tax break for employers who hire a person at 50% above minimum wage or more in the next four months provided that they retain that person as an employee for five years. Or something like that to reward employers for hiring people.
