I actually find this clip really funny and accurate.

However, it's obvious what's going on here. "DefendGlenn" posts a video and Faux are immediately all over it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HziIaNStjD8

Th same thing happened with the "assholes" video, it was DefendGlenn who uploaded it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt66eWnjoTo

Check out their website: http://www.defendglenn.com/

Glenn Beck (Faux) is using YouTube and that website to fight back against Color of Change's boycott campaign and doing whatever they can to destroy Van Jones' career in the process.

Here's the real Van Jones President Obama employed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SmF3B3734E

And in the videos linked to here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x364847

Do all you "christians" profess to love one another? If your lord Jesus can forgive the sinner, why can't you? Are you superior to God? Do you know better than your creator? If I recall corrrectly, your lord Jesus actually hung our with sinners. Mary Magdaline would be one to come to mind. How dare you judge? O'bomba? I really don't know what point your trying to make with the particular spelling you used O'bomba, WTF is that? You had no damn problem when your idiot hero Dubya was doing all the killing? You're a stinking hypocrite and there's nothing Christian about you. You pretend to cry for the unborn out of one side of your mouth and advocate the taking of life out the other. Go back to where you came from freak, no one here will be influenced by anything you have to say. And may others do unto you as you do unto them.

I'm surprised that user name wasn't taken already...

I have to say, you have got to be... hands down, the worst infiltrator I've ever seen.

Busted after 2 posts..

2... and you've already outed yourself. It's not like your username was to was going to let you slip in jab or two unnoticed or anything, but have you no sense of subtlety sir?

Clearly you have not read your Top Secret Troll Infiltrators Operations manual... not even the Cliff notes... your supposed to blend in... say one or two innocuous or neutral things to throw the Troll watchers off you trail... actually read a few threads before piping up at all. Find out what real DUers are actually concerned about then start hinting that you are dissatisfied by this policy or that... implying that you've got voter's remorse about Obama.

That's how you're supposed to sow dissension and infighting amongst us.

See I'm not even in your line of work and I know more about your fucking job than you do. You are a disgrace to your profession, and when mods come down from upon high and smite your sorry ass, go in the knowledge that you managed to accomplish nothing in your short, short time here.

By the way, tell your wife I want my fucking Van Halen T-shirt back.

Your opinion,"Joe the Plumber", stinks up the place.
I think that Obama made the best choice possible, for once.
Just because Van Jones doesn't grovel, like the Bush
sycophants had to do, proves that he is more interested in
doing his job than kissing ass and playing politics. He is
dedicated to green energy and he points out anyones actions
that go counter to his belief. What better person to put in

Edited on Sat Sep-05-09 12:05 AM by Turborama
Check out what they're running with wall to wall here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HziIaNStjD8

As Boobalopbop said in the comments:

"Hey Fox... Have you heard? Our country is at war with 2 countries California is burning and the President is looking to reform our Healthcare system."

They know that but their main concern at the moment is their "war" against Color of Change and Van Jones and fuck everything else. The most important thing to Faux is News Corp. & their corporate friends' profits.

Edited on Sat Sep-05-09 12:22 AM by gopsucks1
It's about Glenn Beck. This is just classic 'attack where you are weakest' reich wing horseshit. They will lose! Make no mistake this is Faux vs the Obama administration. What Faux may not realize (yet!) is that this is just a warning shot. Here is a side of Obama (granted, from the past) that a lot of people have not seen in the open. Faux and a lot of his critics are underestimating him and you haven't seen anything yet!

I think Faux needs to be taken off the air (or at the very least forced to remove the "Fair and Balanced" BULLSHIT slogan they use) for spreading, fear, hate and seditious lies. The effect they are having on the nation's political discourse is disturbing & dangerous. They are brainwashing their viewers in a way that we've never seen before. The lead up to the Iraq war is nothing compared to this.

Edited on Sat Sep-05-09 12:37 AM by gopsucks1
I see it coming to a head fairly soon. Faux needs the airwaves and the Gov't owns the airwaves (yes, including cable and satellite). They need a gov't license to use the airwaves. See where this is headed?! There are just sooooooo many ways the Gov't can make life VERY difficult for News Corp. Like I said this boycott is just a warning shot and by all accounts a VERY effective one. One report I read yesterday is that this boycott is costing Fox News 5-7% of their potential revenue. Can't find a link but it was very detailed and written by someone who knows how network TV advertising works first hand. There are only so many advertising slots in a day and if they can't fill Beck's slots (during a top dollar advertising time I might add) with top dollar advertising they gotta put it elsewhere. So although most of the boycotters are still paying Faux the same amount and gettings their ads running at other times those slots are bumping other potential ads. The net effect is less ad revenue.

27. We need to be very careful about promoting govt action against Faux
The boycott simply needs to be expanded to all advertisers on Faux News, seeing how Faux News continues to promote the delusional, dangerous rantings of Beck (let alone the other idiots; who'd a thunk someone could make O'Reilly and Hannity seem rational). If a sufficient number of citizens participate in the boycott, then we can enjoy the irony of it being their beloved free market having forced them off the air (or at least adjust their rhetoric).

44. rubbish
the govt does not own the cable "airwaves'. fwiw, the use of airwaves and cable together is oxymoronic.

cable =/= airwaves. PERIOD

boycotts are great. countering bad speech with boycotts is good. countering bad speech with good speech is good. arguing that the govt OWNS the cable "airwaves" is absurd.

45. that's fine
but GOVERNMENT certainly doesn't "NEED to take them off the air (not that they are ON the "air". they are cable). they have neither the authority nor the duty to do so. people are free to boycott, free to offer OTHER speech to counter faux bullshit, but the argument that govt. can remove a channel because it is 'brainwashing' runs counter to EVERYTHING the 1st amendment represents.

so, just it clear, who do you believe NEEDS to take them off the air?

47. i do it because i defend the 1st amendment
i defend the rights of those i disagree with . i stand with voltaire, and with the letter and spirit of the 1st amendment

faux has every right to spew bullshit

people have every right to boycott, protest, pressure advertisers, or offer good speech to counter faux's bad speech.

but faux has the ABSOLUTE RIGHT to do what they are doing. govt. is not the arbiter of "truth". the marketplace of ideas is. don't like their ideas, then boycott, espouse other ides, pressure advertisers, etc.

and i simply ASKED a question. WHO do you propose take them off the air? *if* (emphasis on IF), you say govt, i say you are proposing unconstitutional crap. if not, kewl!

People who stand by the constitution like it was written by god are as bad as the taliban and fundamentaist Christians who stick by their holy books to defend their actions.

Do you think Goebbels had a 'right' to spew all Hitler's evil brainwashing propaganda against the jews?

If you treat the AMENDMENTS of the contitution as if they were AMENDED by god and cannot be AMENDED again, I've got nothing else to say to you.

50. in the same way that the ACLU
defended the nazis in skokie.

i don't defend the content of their speech.

i defend their right TO their speech.

just as the ACLU did not defend the REASON the nazis were marching, or the ideology they spewed during their marching, but defended their RIHGT to march.

yes, civil rights mattered.

you don't respect the 1st amendment and that's sad.

but quite typical amongst hardcore statists on the right and left, who seek to eliminate the rights of those they disagree with

disgusting to me, but fortunately we have a constitution and a rule of law that helps thwart such attempts.

he's mocking GWB's "addiction" to pushing petroleum based energy sources on the United States. GWB decisions were based on his making money for him and his friends, not the good of the country. If he cared about the US he would have been working to reduce our dependence on oil from the time he got in office.

As far as the "asshole" comment Jones made, he's entitled to his opinion. Some feel the Republicans are obstructing health care reform purely as a power play to effect President Obama. Health care costs are bankrupting people with insurance. Something needs to be done.

I don't really care for some of the videos that have been shown where he's talking about "white" environmentalists poisoning people of color. That's not to say it's wholly inaccurate and there are less divisive ways to put it. It's going to be hard to educate people about social and economic justice if you're offending them. So I'd say to environmentalists that are doing the wrong thing, that they need to look at reforming their activities and explain why. I'd say activities Y are hurting community X, and something should be done about it. I wouldn't bring their race into it. Again, it's divisive.

40. ATTENTION: FCC Complaint about Glenn Beck
SEND YOUR GLENN BECK COMPLAINT TO FCC: http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

-- Pass it on...

On Fox and Friends 7/28/2009 at approx. 3:07 PM EST, Fox host Glenn Beck accused President Obama of being "a racist."

The group was discussing the recent Gates controversy, and Beck exclaimed that Obama has "over and over again" exposed himself as "a guy who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture. I don't know what it is..."

When Fox's Brian Kilmeadeon pointed out that many people in Obama's administration are white, so "you can't say he doesn't like white people," Beck pressed on. "I'm not saying he doesn't like white people, I'm saying he has a problem," Beck said. "This guy is, I believe, a racist."

Dear Sir or madam,

I find the racial hate speech spewed out by Glenn Beck obscene and disgusting and I do not want my children subjected to it . I believe the FCC has a responsibility to hold cable news channels, which regularly host elected officals at the federal, state and local levels on their shows throughout the day, accountable for programming hate speech to viewers. I would ask that you stongly consider fining Fox News for this offensive broadcasts, as well as take Fox News off "must carry" for basic cable.

Thanks for your attention.

I can't believe that they actually won this. Obama should have rejected his resignation. What really disgusts me, apart from losing a great advocate for REAL change, is that now this has happened Faux must feel like they're calling the shots.

This has actually pushed me over the tipping point and I've lost all faith in this administration being strong enough to fight for anything we were looking forward to and excited about after the election.
