2. ben nelson is pathetic.....
That idiot is sad. He might as well join with sloppy joe to start a new party...something between a repuke and a simple minded corporate suck up.

It's hard to soar like an eagle, when you fly with a bunch of turkeys.

5. The "trigger" is a scam
Either a public option is needed or it isn't. You can't have it both ways. Either you support it or you don't. Those "triggers" will NEVER be met and only a fool believes they would. Obama insults our intelligence if he thinks the left will buy this con job.

Oh sure...Ben Nelson would welcome a public option IF????

If the earth were hit by an asteroid and all other options were wiped out. That's the only kind of trigger he'll go for.

Instead of kissing his ass Obama should be calling this fool out.

I'm not buying any "trigger".

Be serious, be real and put a genuine public option. You already gave up single-payer before it ever started. Either Obama works for insurance or he works for the people.

We'll see. Put up or shut up.

6. trigger not acceptable, nor is a castrated public plan, or one not available to all, or one forced..

.....to pay artificially high, non-Medicare provider rates.

There are a thousand ways the corporatists can gut the public plan.

And if it is gutted, we need to defeat it.

No bill at all is preferable to passing phony pseudo-"reform"

8. If insurance whore ben nelson is for it, it's a crock.
The trigger is just a placebo to make us think we are getting something when we are just getting screwed again.

13. How about a reverse trigger?
Insurance companies can pay the price of the public plan through their inflated profits. If they manage to stop gouging people after 5 years, the taxpayers will take over the financing of the public plan.

per the California Nursing Association. Wouldn't that trip any legitimate trigger anyone could come up with?

16. We need triggers for robers as well
If they don't stop robing us so much then the trigger kicks in and makes them stop or slow down a bit.
You have to give them a few years to get used to the idea of earning a honest living.

17. A rule of thumb is, if Ben Nelson's for a hcr bill, it's crap.
My preference would be to persuade those senators against public option that it will go over just fine at their next election, by which time people will see that it works, and that a plan without public option or really ferocious regulation of private insurance (and if congress lacks the will to do the former, they're mighty unlikely to do the latter) will drive up prices and prove a bigger electoral liability to them. However, they seem like intransigent toads, so I'm thinking let the cowards and corporate sell-outs bail, and pass it 50-49, or 49 + Biden - 49, if Byrdy can't make the vote.

18. I'm for the trigger
The trigger voters in Nelson's district pull at the voting booth to get this waste of space out of Congress.

19. On his knees Ben
is saying that while the Senate has a lip lock on the health insurance industry's ass today that it will rise to its feet at some as yet unspecified future date and bend the industry over to grab its ankles if it doesn't stop fucking the public.
