I released this video June 25, 2008, over a year ago under the
title "Intervention- Democrat Reality Check (Rated
R)"

Listen and prove me wrong... PLEASE!

Listen to the part about the REPUBLICAN MINORITY!

For the love of whatever you hold dear, can't you see it?!

Bring on the B.S. from the sunshine and lollipop brigades. The
Left is being punked yet again and many there are that STILL
refuse to see it! Are you angry with me? Why? Not positive
enough? Too soon to judge whether or not we are being punked
with Chump Change by the great Hope & Change salesman?

Are you really that different than the rightwing zealots? Do
facts that taint your "Hope" cause you to cleave
harder to your illusion? You may be DElusional.

I can not fathom how anyone with deep convictions to Liberal
and Progressive issues and ideals can be anything but outraged
at the shit sandwich we've been served.

If you want to reform this party and meet like minded people
please join our social network (it's free! whopee!):

Let's get real!

1. I demand that you withhold any criticism and ranting until at least 2012!
If not 2016. Otherwise it's too soon and I reject and denounce you and your fellow Chicken Little doomsayers who jump to conclusions and are full of hyperbole and cynicism.

Edited on Sun Sep-06-09 11:00 PM by slay
What can I say bro - you were right. The fix is in - and the Dems are in on it. There is NO change. Everyone can see it - but many don't want to face the fact that they got PUNKED by the Dems (liberals worse than others). I'm as pissed off as you are - argh! What do you think the best option here is - reform the Democratic party? Start a 3rd party? You were spot on about the Republicans ruling from the minority. I don't see the Dems standing up and defending anyone except corporate interests. I wish I could prove you wrong, like you said in your vid, but I can't. I guess the best I can say is that more and more of us are realizing this as well. As always though, I appreciate your strong voice on the left speaking the truth!

*edited for clarity.. i think.. heh

I've been posting a lot here about what a bunch of worthless, spineless "leaders" we have in our party. I so desperately want to be proven wrong too, but I'm afraid it ain't never gonna happen. It certainly seems that the America I grew up believing in , is through, and it ain't comin' back, which absolutely breaks my heart when I let myself really think about it...

8. WASHINGTON IS BROKEN...
We need to reform our political system, We the people voted Obama in because after 8yrs of political stalemate no one actually believed anything in DC could actually get done that could help the American people instead of pushing one's political agenda. The problem is the way the political system is set up, its damned if you do damned if you don't. Obama campaigned on change, and even with his most simplest of ideas, not to mention the more progressive one's, we all now see how hard it is do get anything done in washington.

ONLY THE DEMOCRATS CAN DO THAT!

C'mon! Democrat "whips" are Democrat 'wimps".

Reid? Yeah, let's have a nice hard look at his ass why don't we.

The new blood isn't enough. Sanders, Kucinich, Wexler, Conyers and the occasional front runner aren't enough. Al Franken might be a good start.

Blue Dogs?

That's the safety net for the fucking Corporate masters.

PLEASE, OH PLEASE LET ME BE THE CLOWN.

23. Thats the problem with a 2 party system...
With the republicans now being so extremely far-right its no mystery why the Democrats have internal problems. The majority of people are turned off by the republican agenda so much that they have no choice but to be Democrat. The republicans are so bad that the Democrats now acquired everyone from anarchists to enviromentalists to your average middle-class worker, each with a broad varying degree as to how society should be. Me personally, I like the diversity of the Democrat party, republicans just paint it as internal strife but I see it more as meaningful debate between a party of free-thinkers that don't just vote down party lines like the republicans do, with no actual thought or leadership of their own. With that being said, personally I wish this administration were further left and more unified than they are, of course Obama doesn't have his dad to call and get advice on how to be a president like Bush did and I could imagine it would take one more than 8 months to get acquainted and get everyone on the same page, so Im not counting it out, but I would like to see some big changes coming from them for the advancement of America and not just politics as usual. 'We the people, in order to form a more perfect union'...That's progressive.

24. Yes it's pretty frustrating.....
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 01:41 AM by Joe the Liberal
on one hand we have the republican party, they have spines are willing to go all out to push their agenda/policies through with sheer ruthlessness no matter the costs even when they barely win an election. The only problem is that their agenda/policies don't do anything to help anyone except for those at the very top (corporations/Wall St. ect) and themselves of course.

On the other hand we have the Democratic party, they have no spines and are only willing to push through their agenda/policies with bipartisan support, it's either bipartisan or ain't happening. When they win an election by a large percentage and have tons of political capital they end up not using it and don't capitalize on the victory. Their agenda/policies generally help the average person and those not so fortunate but the Democrats just don't fight hard enough.

If we had a party with the spines of the republicans and the agenda/policies of the democrats then it wouldn't be as bad.

40. I call wolf in sheep's clothing.
My only point in favor of this video is if it is productive. Does this kind of ranting get people active or does it not? Is there more despair after watching this or does it empower anyone? Is there any indication in the comments that this is anything other than a circlejerk? Now, there is some language you can appreciate, no?

I already said I feel the anger and I have no problem unleashing it when necessary. I have used it to corner my US Congressman for a private discussion and to kick the ass verbally of the county Republican chair. I can give as good as I get in direct confrontations but this stuff causes me to want to just throw my hands up. Honestly, I can ignore it and carry on.

Yes, I too am angry but one can get angry and active without being an asshole.

Occasionally I am entertained by your rants, but whatever, carry on with the assclownery.

Sitting at home doing all my activism from behind a computer monitor.

Let me see. I got active, but I am the problem, is it? I have never been called a believer in the great chess game, but fine go with it. My argument hinges on what YOU and I will DO. Pretty simple. What are you gonna do about our problems, hmm? I appreciate ranting, but unless you are motivating or empowering people to action then what good is anger that leads to despair?

After watching this video did you feel the need to DO something? Did you hear a call to action? Did you see an America that could be? Or did you feel like me, that you should just throw your hands in the air and give up.

We are a stronger community than this, but if you are just sitting home, you aren't doing anyone any good.

If the rant motivated anyone to action than cheers for Frank, but it also probably left others feeling like shit.

What you gonna do about it?

28. Go Washington Generals. Da Nile is a great place to live this time of year. =)...
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 08:25 AM by GivePeaceAchance
To be fair though how much different would things of been even with a very liberal President. It all falls apart in the Senate and that's where I personally feel the work for change has to be focused, but it's a hard sell at this point. It took a long time to break Washington it's going to take a long term commitment to fix it, the rage is righteous and important to hear but only becomes effective channeled into a life long commitment for change. We can end it here retreat to our corners say hey what's the point but I had no delusions how messed things were even when President Obama ran, he just made a better diplomat than the previous guy but the way Democrats voted said to there was lots more work to do for while now. As bad as some Democratic party memebers are, moving into retreat and letting cynicism overtake all our aspirations will hand the world back to Republicans and they'll break it for good next time, it's huge dedication to the cause of fixing Washington and electing really vetted candidates to pull things back, it's going to take time, heartache and persistence. The people are the only chance to bring things back form the brink. There's nothing wrong in being angry and feeling cheated just works better to focus all negative emotions into whatever means possible producing a positive outcome. There has to be an element of optimism amongst folks on DU or none of us would even come to DU. It's fight or flight, I feel the former is our only option.

86. IF THE SENATE IS THE PROBLEM
President Obama should make several visits there. He should
inform the "blue dogs" that if they vote for
anything besides a Democratic Bill, he will use the full
weight of his office to destroy them. President Obama should
have already written the Health Care bill, and spent enough
time on the hill, twisting arms if necessary to ensure that
Universal Health Care, nothing less, is the Democratic line.
And ALL democrats, who want to remain so , will vote for it.
He should tell them what is "on the table."
Including prosecution for war crimes. obviously, his muscle
Rahm, is Republican. He needs to go yesterday. Van Jones needs
to be re-hired at a higher salary, today. If you are a
Democratic President who made promises that got you a
landslide victory. You sure as hell make sure those promises
are kept. This is your short time in the most important job in
the world. By God, Do it.

It is a party that rejects the Democratic/Republic for of government?

But that's just me.

It's kind of "funny".

That I call it a "Democrat" party gets a response "Watch it buddy. It's DemocraTIC!" but the fact that the party is a fucking joke... that's just not being "helpful".

Chemtrails, Flu Vaccines, The Illuminati, Nan-Armour Baboons? Yeah, okay, we're listinin'.

A majority party with the closest thing to a mandate sucking corporate dicks all day right in front of your face? That's just crazy talk.

Say the party is a fucking joke, then give people some light. How hard is that? I object to utter darkness. Maybe that is why some people are not having a discussion with you when you call out the party.

46. Maybe because that is all there is?
The Obama administration has been utterly fucking shameful in handling this, they are a national joke, just like the archetypal liberal who gets easily trounced by the right wing liars and sits in the corner with a dunce hat mumbling apologies.

Sometimes there really isn't a silver lining, this is one of those times. Although we are saved from McCain/Palin, the inaction of Obama may very well sour people to the Democratic party and guarantee a Republic victory in 2012. I know for a fact I am not voting for Obama again in 2012, I never really liked him much to begin with. Turns out my initial criticism of "All talk, no action" was legitimate and the Obama fanatics were tricked.

One only needs to be open to seeing it. If nothing else you should feel empowered to change things for the better. If not, then you strengthen my argument that this video invites despair.

And honestly, if you really want to have a conversation about silver linings, I can point you to a well written DU journal updated today that has plenty of light and no darkness whatsoever.

49. Archetypal liberal?
Maybe in Limbaugh's world. Apparently Limbaugh has defined liberal for you. Liberal historically didn't mean weak, that is the RW definition that you have embraced, or want us to embrace. Obama's problem is that he isn't acting as a liberal. He is doing exactly what the corporations want, this is hardly the actions of a liberal.

53. I was worried about this WAY before the election.
I keep visualizing a game of three-card monte with a Democrat moving the cards. While the public watches, the Republican party sneaks in and picks the public's pocket. I was visualizing this long before the bank bailouts.

I trusted Obama for about six weeks, I think, riding the wave of his election to office. Then it became clear exactly what we elected.

I am in despair. I don't see any way to fix this.

When I tried to tell others I didn't trust the Democrats, they thought I was crazy, pessimistic, negative.

Now I'm just right.

And I really didn't want to be.

61. You're right .....
And I'm glad you're saying what needs to be said. For the posters who think it would be better to keep quiet, I'd like to point out that I've had eight years of Bush telling me to keep quiet. Now is the time to talk and state an opinion, no matter what it is. It doesn't matter how you express yourself, it is the message that is important. theFrankFactor has the right message as far as I can see. I think it was the remark that came from the Obama administration that the Progressives should be "good soldiers" now that sent me over the edge. What else have we been doing? What that remark really means is that we should sit down and shut up. I'm sick of being told that and I don't have any intention of doing it.

To all who say "keep quiet," I ask how can anything ever be changed or accomplished that way? Do you remember the three monkeys in the fable? One covered his eyes so he did not have to see what was happening, the other covered his ears so he did not have to hear what was happening and the third covered his mouth so he would not speak about what was happening. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. But it doesn't mean that the evil stops, it just means that you close your eyes to it and wait without ever taking a proactive stance to combat it. One of the ways we have to bring about change is to speak out. That is how so few Freepers get so much. They act like two year olds who want what they want and will do whatever they can to get it. They are loud, they are everywhere and they never, ever shut up. It makes it seem like there are more of them than there are. It is an old, old political tactic and the scariest part is that it has been working for them even though we have seen it over and over again. I don't have a good way to stop them, but at the very least we need to talk back.

We won't melt if we are critical; we won't kill the party. We may not accomplish much at this late date, but at least we will be awake and alert and maybe, just maybe we can get our selves back into action. Remember us? We stood up to Bush when no one else would. We posted, we blogged, we put up pictures on the internet that the Bush administration tried to suppress. We fought, we shouted, we demonstrated. To the OP who objects to negative "rants," I have to tell you that Kieth Olbermann was a bright light in the Bush darkness. He ranted, he shouted, he called them out and I drank it all in like a thirsty person drinks water because I felt so isolated. Silence when you are being erased is isolating, and as one lefty blogger pointed out then, Progressives have been shouted down and denigrated to the point where we could be compared to someone who has been victimized by a bully. She said to stop sucking it up and feeling depressed and start speaking up. She reminded us that you don't get extra points for not raising your voice. She is right and so is theFrankFactor.

Even in this forum the Freepers have trolled and posted enough crap that they have us looking at each other with suspicion and trying to develop ways that we can "measure" our own orthodoxy as good Progressives, Liberals and Democrats. It gets more and more difficult to take each other on faith, and that is not a good thing. If we can't do it here, where can we do it?

I have been a member of the DemocraticUnderground.com under a different handle for a long time. This place and it's members have been a great asset.

I really want to believe we can do better. I never discourage participation in the process or the party but rather encourage it at every opportunity. We can use this "I hate Government" bull shit that the right sells to fill the vacuum they create.

There is no excuse for this dismal performance from both the Congressional Democrats and the Executive branch,

Democratic Party is starting to show some strength. Not enough, absolutely true, but we'll see very soon.

You must know that this is really no longer about Dems versus Repubs. It is about Corporations versus the people. It looks simpler than that because so many Republicans have been nearly 100% sold out for so long.

Yeah, the PEOPLE do smell like death to the circling buzzards, but the circling buzzards are the mega corporations and their minions both Dem and Repub. You talk like there are no Blue Dogs or DLC'ers within the party that are poisoning and dividing us from within. Come on.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, as they say.

That seems to be the main thing on greatest pages- rant's about republicans. And Obama fluff.

Occasionally something critical and innovative surfaces, but its getting rare.

This is Lewis Black and Rude Pundit worthy. And a palpable anger that we are sick of the shit we are being spoon fed by our leadership.

We are a weak, weak party.

Unreccomendations aren't going to make the problem go away. It just stifles justifiable dissent and minority opinions and confirms that Democrats are too weak to be self critical.

Smaller spots? Spots. purty kitty.... Sorry

Nah, really man, take the bashing down a notch or two, make a few big points and leave the smaller points for another spot or for future development. Experiment with shorter clips and you'll find a larger audience.

Aside from that you and your set look good.

This is just as advertised: unsolicited advice.

Speaking of advertising advice, how 'bout something like this for a tagline:
